Since Hawaii's temperature fluctuates only 10 degrees year round, it is a mecca for the outdoorsman. The ship' scuba club took full advantage of the crystal clear tropical waters and spent the day in an organized dive. Some members of the crew participated in the sport for which Hawaii is perhaps the most famous spot in the world, surfing. The world surfing championships are frequently held in Hawaii which added allure to those who wished to challenge, the .tg ' a can't be described adequately with T' just words. Unfortunately there are always some men who have to stay aboard or at least near the ship for the majority of the work day. For those who just didn't have the time to go off base, there was always time for a quick dash to the Navy Exchange.
