Captain Iames D. Uig Dog? Bamage graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1939. He has commanded several carrier based squadrons, with Bomber Squadron Ten CVB-101 aboard Enterprise KCV-61 his first in 1943. ln late 1944, he formed VB-98, the fleet replacement training squadron, and two years later took command of the Pacific Fleet SBZC Helldivers. Car- rier Air Group Nineteen, then operat- ing in the Sea of Iapan off Korea in USS Oriskany KCVA-341 was his next command, followed by Composite Squadron Three QVC-37 at NAS Moffett Field. He relieved BADM Cthen Captainl Reedy in 1958 as Commander Heavy Attack Wing One at Sanford, Fla. He commanded USS Salisbury Sound CAV- l3D flagship of Taiwan Patrol Force CCTF-725 in 1960 and skippered USS Independence CCVA-621 in 1963-64. Other duty assignments have includ- ed Chief of Sea Bases Planning Divis- ion in the Office of the DCNO lAirDg Chief of Nuclear Weapons Plans in the Office of the DCNO CPolicies and Plansb: and Test Director for the low altitude penetration testing of all U.S. tactical and strategic aircraft weapons systems, and the defenses against such systems. Captain Ramage reported to Com- mander Task Force 77 as Chief of Staff to Rear Admiral Reedy in April 1966. M

Bear Admiral Iames R. Beedy, Com- mander Carrier Striking Force, Seventh Fleet shifted his flag to Constellation from USS Kitty Hawk KCVA-635 on 1 Iune 1966 at Yokosuka, Iapan. Admiral Beedy, born 10 lune 1918, in Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from the Naval Academy in 1933. As a mid- shipman, he played varsity football, and captainedtthe 1932 Academy team. A Naval Aviator, Admiral Beedy served aboard the cruiser USS North- hampton, in Bombing Squadron Six aboard USS Enterprise and in Patrol Squadron Two in the Canal Zone, be- fore assuming command in 1943 of Pa- trol Bombing Squadron 110 based in England. For his outstanding operational ef- fectiveness and combat record at that command, Admiral Beedy received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the British Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, Admiral Beedy par- ticipated in the atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll. His first flag command came in Aug- ust 1962 when he assumed command of Carrier Division Twenty. In Novem- ber 1962, he became Commander, U.S. Naval Support Force Antarctica and later, U.S. Antarctic Projects Officer. Admiral Beedy became Command- er Carrier Division Five on 25 Iune 1965 and less than a month later also became Commander Task Force Sev- enty-Seven. Admiral Beedy is married and has five children.
