I fl 41 I l w 1 1 1 1 l t l t XX As we conclude this deployment, each of you have my deepest thanks for all the sacrifices you made in serving CONOLLY and the nation over the past four months. No one could accuse us of taking a luxury cruise. Uncle Sam got his full measure from each and everyone of us over these twenty-'two weeks. Yet, despite the hard work, long hours and sparce liberty, the spirit that makes CONOLLY special never flagged. ADM CURNEY and others who visited the ship in the Persian Gulf, agreed that they had never seen another ship with comparable morale. The volunteer efforts by your crewmates who ran the Olympiad events, who staged Christmas caroling and Christmas tapes, who ran the liberty and WLTW, the MARS radio station and so on, are a large part of the CONOLLY secret and to them I add a special note of thanks on behalf of all their shipmates. The day by day work of the many people who keep our turbines humming, and the lights burning, water flowing is not unnoticed nor is unappreciated. All of us who have served on less fortunate ships appreciate how much it means to have the power and the reliability in all our engineering systems that we enjoy here. All of you, whether you worked on deck or below decks, or Combat systems, or Communica- tions, in Engineering or Supply, share the credit for all accomplishments of the Command. The team effort makes wit, work and every member counts. No one man or one team deserves exclusive credit for any accompllishmerxf on this type of ship. And, in owning a share of CONOLLY you have caused to stand taller and walk prouder, than the rest of the fleet. You're the best and since you are you deserve the opportunity to flauntwit.
