At 5:05 P. M. formal classroom worla is over, but learning does not automatically stop. ln fact, if anything, true learning really begins. For it is in the extra-curricular activities, in which true lite situations are more closely approximated, that there is a syn- thesis and application of knowledge and an oppor- tunity to experience the importance of cooperation Emma Jean Hay, winner of first place in the state viola contest, played Ave Maria by Shubert in the Girl Reserve Easter Service. and responsibility in carrying a project to completion. Many attempts are abortive but some reach success- ful fruition. Each represents some valuable effort, more comprehension ofthe elements involved in such a project, more tolerance ofthe efforts of others and greater appreciation of a successful production.
