We'll ever pledge our loyalties, devoted hearts to you, To thee, our Alma Mater, we'll ever more be true. Hail, hail to the Red and Black, Hail to our school with a cheer, We give our best to Conemaugh, Whose fellowship we hold so dear. Dedication The mark of a good high school is fine teachers. One of Conemaugh Township's finest, Mr. Curtis Greninger, was named finalist for the Pennsylvania 1970 Teacher of the Year Award. Shown in the picture taken last April at a luncheon in Harrisburg are Governor Shafer, Mr. Greninger, and Dr. David H. Kurtzman, Secretary of Edu- cation. Only those of us who know Mr. Greninger well can appreciate how much he deserved this honor. Mr. Gren- inger has always been a source of inspiration to the students of Conemaugh Township. His obvious enthusiasm for teaching and his unlimited supplies of encouragement and praise have brought out the best in each student. His interest in the students of Conemaugh Township and their future plans has always inspired them to try harder. His cheerful outlook on life and school has brightened our halls considerably. lt is through excellent teachers like Mr. Greninger that students can best prepare for future life and its many decisions. For all of these things and many more, we owe Mr. Greninger a debt of gratitude. In view of his outstanding recognition as Teacher of the Year Finalist and his service and loyalty to the students of Conemaugh Township, we proudly dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Curtis Greninger. Our thanks to those who do their best To put our school above the rest, And those we sometimes overlook- The nurses, counselors, and the cooks H si - fl The members of the school board are as follows Cleft to rightjz Mr. Wayne A. Kauffman, Treasurer Donald J. Lohr, Mr. Edwin E. Goddard, Vice President Charles W. Salay, Mr. John P. K. Miller, III, President George W. Shuman, Jr., Dr. Donald L. Stover. Absent: Mr. Lowell D. Shaffer, Mr. Richard D. Slick. JOHN CHOBANY: Indiana University of Pennsylvania, B.S.g University of Pittsburgh, M.Ed.g Graduate Work at University of Pittsburgh, District Superintendent. Education should prepare people not just to earn a living, but to live a life-a creative, humane, and sensitive life. It is my hope that the graduates of 1971 have received this kind of preparation from our schools. May happiness and success crown all of your ef- forts and may God bless you. John Chobany District Superintendent W. K1 ANDREW BULAZO: Grove City College, B.A.g Kent State University, M.Ed.g Graduate work at Pennsylvania State Uni- versity and University of Pittsburgh. As you complete the first chapter in your life you must realize that you have received and benefitted from the best which your family, your school, your church, and your country has to offer. You have re- ceived the heritage of democracy. Commencement marks the beginning of a new chapter in your story. You have demonstrated perseverance and responsi- bility in attaining the completion of your high school education. As you live continuing chapters of your life, use the tools, the preparation, and faith entrusted to you wisely. Set your goals and ideals high, conclude each chapter successfully, continue your acceptance of responsibility and remember that each individual's contribution is as significant to the continuance of this great nation as it is to your own Book of Life. It is in these troubled times that the investment which has been given to you will insure our future and success- fully conclude your own story. Andrew Bulazo Assistant Principal MR. JAMES L. HERDMAN: Pennsylvania State University, B.S.g Lehigh University, M.Ed.g Graduate work at Lafayette College and Lehigh University. To the Class of 1971: Through the years, l hope that you will continue to grow in your vision, courage and faith-vision to see worthwhile goals, courage to work and struggle for your goals, and unbounded faith that the things you believe in and strive for will ultimately succeed.
