ANDREW BULAZO: Grove City College, B.A., Kent State University, M.Ed., Graduate work at Penn State and University of Pittsburgh. Congratulations to you as you complete another milestone on the highway of life. To what point on this highway do you progress? Will you stop here or will you continue traveling this highway of life which at times becomes discouraging with detours and obstacles. Will you continue to the terminus which lies in a satisfying life of accomplish- ment and acceptance in the conquering of challenges that install roadblocks in your path? The adventures on this highway are many and exhilarating. The endeavors that you place forth must be your best. The rewards are not always evident. They lie in the self satis- faction of a iob well done. Your highway of life lies stretched out before you. Full speed ahead. Mr. Andrew Bulazo, Assistant Principal MR. JAMES L. HERDMAN: Pennsylvania State University, B.S., Lehigh University, M.Ed., Graduate work at Lafayette College and Lehigh University. To the Members of the Senior Class: For my message to you I have chosen a statement directed to all Mankind. Entitled Desiderata, it is dated 1692 and was found in Old St. Paul's Church, Baltimore. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and learn what peace there may be in silence . . . Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others .... lf you compare yourself with others you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble, it is a real possession in the chang- ing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is, many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, grace- fully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful worldff James L. Herdman, High School Principal
