W fb. ELLA 'gpg uhm' C 3' Y 25 5 6 K Dedication We, the class of 1970, have worked together as a team since our iunior high school days. Our team has been very successful, and as in any team, much of our success is due to our captain or dean, Mrs. Clark. This year a new dean has taken the place of Mr. Krevetskip this new member of our team is Mr. Brown. We appreciate his giving of his time and himself to help our class through its senior year. To us, Mrs. Clark has been much more than a dean is required to be. She has unseltishly helped us with our class plays, has been a counselor, leader, inspiration, and friend. She has given us her time, her guidance, and most of all, herself. She asks a lot of us but gives much more. Mrs. Clark is in a large part re- sponsible for the achievements of our class and has planted in our class the high ideals and goals which she herself stands for. Because of what Mrs. Clark is to us and because Mr. Brown has so graciously stepped in to help us at this late stage in our high school career, we, the Class of 1970, dedicate this thirty-second edition of the CONNUMACH to our deans, Mrs. Clark and Mr. Brown. SCHOOL Treasurer. I N . QJ BOARD: SEATED: Mr. Nevin Thomas, Secretary, Mr. George Shuman, President, Mr. Charles Salay, Vice President, Mr. Edwin E. Goddard, STANDING: Mr. Donald Lohr, Mr. John P. K. Miller, Mr. Robert Eppley, Mr. Vito Marone, Dr. Donald Stover. ,ff JOHN CHOBANY: lndiana University of Pennsylvania, B.S., University ot Pittsburgh, M.Ed.g Graduate Work at U n i v e r sity of Pittsburgh, District Superintendent. I deeply appreciate the opportunity of sharing with you the last few years and the many accomplishments you have attained. lt is my sincere hope that you have enioyed your school years and the many experiences that you were provided. May happiness and success crown all your future efforts and may God bless you. John Chobany, District Superintendent ANDREW BULAZO: Grove City College, B.A., Kent State University, M.Ed., Graduate work at Penn State and University of Pittsburgh. Congratulations to you as you complete another milestone on the highway of life. To what point on this highway do you progress? Will you stop here or will you continue traveling this highway of life which at times becomes discouraging with detours and obstacles. Will you continue to the terminus which lies in a satisfying life of accomplish- ment and acceptance in the conquering of challenges that install roadblocks in your path? The adventures on this highway are many and exhilarating. The endeavors that you place forth must be your best. The rewards are not always evident. They lie in the self satis- faction of a iob well done. Your highway of life lies stretched out before you. Full speed ahead. Mr. Andrew Bulazo, Assistant Principal MR. JAMES L. HERDMAN: Pennsylvania State University, B.S., Lehigh University, M.Ed., Graduate work at Lafayette College and Lehigh University. To the Members of the Senior Class: For my message to you I have chosen a statement directed to all Mankind. Entitled Desiderata, it is dated 1692 and was found in Old St. Paul's Church, Baltimore. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and learn what peace there may be in silence . . . Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others .... lf you compare yourself with others you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble, it is a real possession in the chang- ing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is, many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, grace- fully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful worldff James L. Here is, in brief, 'fthe annals of the Class of '70 . Tuesday, October 11, 1966 An article appeared in the daily bulletin which read: Congratulations to the Class of 1970: You went over the top! This is a red letter day in the annals of a sterling class that has everything-enthusiasm, determination, drive, salesmanship, and SCHOOL SPIRIT-to burn. Our appreciation to the 9th grade homeroom teachers for their cooperation. Our hats are off to the class officers and homeroom captains who were the spark plugs of the campaign. We salute you the Class of 1970. We're proud of you and glad to be part of the team. Class deans: Mr. Krevetski, Mrs. Clark, and Mr. Drenner, Principal. December 16, 1967 Our Christmas Dance was one of the most successful at C.T.H.S. From 8:00 to 11:00 the Senior High School danced to the music of the Kandy Kubbert and had an enchanted evening. Saturday, March 29, 1969 Our Junior Class Play, Hillbilly Weddin , was one of the biggest dramatic successes in the history of the school, both financially and in the area of attendance. The play added S500 to our treasury and there was a standing room only crowd. April 2, 1969-An unusual experience. Bomb-scare-called in to Mr. Herdman, principal, and to the local police on the night of April 1. Wednesday, April 2, was wet and bleak- rain fell steadily. Mr. Herdman, whose pet peeve is academic interruptions, herded his tlock into ten buses, the concession stand, and the little shed. After an hour of bomb-shattering a ntic i pa t i 0 n C?1 the students disembarked and returned to classes-relieved to find the building intact and order maintained. May 24, 1969 Our Junior-Senior Prom, another highly successful activity, was titled Oriental Gardens and was held at North Fork Country Club. Friday, June 4, 1969 An article appeared in the Contownian that saddened the members of the Class of 1970. One of our deans, Mr. Krevetski, announced that he had accepted the position of head football coach at another high school. He had helped us with all the previously mentioned activities, including the candy sale of our Junior year which netted about S1,000. As a token of our esteem, the class presented Mr. Krevetski with a wall clock. Class Meeting-May 1969 We contributed S200 to a medical fund established for Janet Mills, a graduate of Conemaugh Twp. High School who was critically iniured in an automobile accident. Much of our success as a class is due to the enthusiasm and leadership of our dean, Mrs. Clark. Our Senior Activities have followed in the established pattern ofa sterling class who always goes over the top. Milf.
