STR HISTUHY All through the year we had anticipated with pleasure our role as host for our big event-the Prom. We had sold football and basket- ball pins to assure us sufficient funds to accomplish our plans. We worked hard at this project and were well rewarded with a successful spring prom, the theme of which was My Blue Heaven. Guiding us through this year were: Commander, Ronald Harmony Subcommander, Richard Horner, Lieutenant Secretary, Linda Haasg Lieutenant Treasurer, Ioan Kelly. At last in l953, the goal for which we had striven so long and so hard, Was now achieved. We were dignified Senior Cadets! Our first accomplishment was the Senior play, Ienny Kissed Me, with Iohn Younkin and Sallie Mishler in leading roles. During this year three of our girls won distinction for their pulchritude-Donna Kaltenbaugh, as Senior Queen at the Valentine dance, Eleanor Govaker at the World's Baton Championship in Iohnstowng and Iane Thomas at the Maple Festival Queen Contest. Our officers for the Senior year were: Corn- mander, Richard Horner, Subcommander, Wayne Holsoppleg Lieuten- ant Secretary, Linda Haasg Lieutenant Treasurer, Ioan Kelly. The prom, class day, baccalaureate, and commencement ended the activities of these fine Cadets. In this short history we have touched only a few highlights of our school career. As We leave these halls, filled with pleasant memories, to take our places among the C. T. H. S. gradu- ates, We hope We have made our imprint upon the history of the school. We want to express our thanks to the teachers and advisors who have so ably guided us through the years.

What's this? The moon pay- ing us a visit here on earth? Don't be alarmed, Richard and Lucille are just putting the fin- ishing touches on the big silver moon that was part of the dec- orations for our prom in May, 1953. , Hurry Bob! Don't be late for t class. CLASS Before we Senior Cadets start our travel into the future, let us reminisce to see what impression we have made in the history of Conemaugh Township High School. In September, 1948, a group of eager cadets entered C. T. H. S., in search of knowl- edge which would help them to enjoy life more fully. Although most of the cadets stuck with the ship, the roster shows that each year some of them failed to realize the great need for education, and dropped out. When we became Freshman we were beginning to be recognized by others. At this time we also felt a need for an organized unit rather than our small social orbits. The offi- cers chosen to lead us were Sallie Mishler, Commander, Ronald Harmon, Subcommander, Iohn Younkin, Lieutenant Secretary, Linda Haas, Lieutenant Treasurer. Walter Shank and Miss Katherine Mellinger were chosen as our-deans for the next four years. Cadets Ianice Miller and Richard Horner received American Legion awards for outstanding scholastic achievement as Freshmen. We also began early to make our mark in the interscholastic sports world, by Cadet Robert Iones's winning the District V Wrestling championship. As Sophomores we became more accustomed to combating difficulties and realizing the true meaning of our search for knowledge. We chose new officers: Commander, Ianice Millerp Subcommander, Ronald Harmony Lieutenant Secretary, Linda Haasp Lieutenant Treasurer, Richard Horner. Mrs. Emma lean Barron was elected as dean to replace Miss Mellinger who resigned. Our biggest project as Sophies was the Christmas Dance with Snowflake Swirl as the theme. Helen Dill was selected Sophomore Queen for the Valentine Dance. We spon- sored a skating party at Westmont Grove, in order to improve our financial status. Again we made our mark in sports with two Cadets winning Wrestling honors. Tom Coachman won the District V championship and Iames Devine won the District V and regional championships. When we became Iuniors we had made our mark in many activities-sports, music, drama, art, and journalism. This year gave us our big chance at dramatics with the class play, The Whole Town's Talking. Catherine Garlesky represented the class as Iunior Queen for the Valentine Dance.
