gi L. 4 A Q L - PIIIJTB LI. The Conemaugh Township Indians started off the l949 season with four veterans, a new coach and a host of eager candidates. The final Whistle at Somerset rang down the cur- tain on the most successful season since the building of the school. Not only did the Indians make the best record with eight Wins and one loss, but completely outdistanced previous e honors received by the team. In league competition C. T. H. S. placed first in the Mountain Conference battle and tied with Conemaugh for second place in the Western Conference hook-up. Three C. T. H. ,. . 'Siag: i - nate team. As a final achievement, Coach Steve Terebus received the Dapper Dan Award for Coach of the Year. Of the eight regulars that played their last game for Conemaugh Township Lockie Boyd and Gib Davis stand out as the most effective l-2 punch in the District. A big man on any- one's team, Anthony Cugini impressed both player and coach as the player to watch. The aggressiveness of Earl Sleek and the dura- bility of Albert Kaltenbaugh made the left side of the line a stone Wall. Ram Mlaker, line general and spark of the team, and George Rahab, brilliant defense man rounded off the forward Wall Which was a coach's dream come true. The Indians' most underrated player, Paul Wasnick, While outshone by most of his famous running mates, Was never outplayed or outfought by any member of the team.
