We breathlessly scampered around the halls trying to find our next class and hoped the instructor was a good egg. But our first year fears were soon dispelled by the warmth and Chris- tian fellowship at Concordia. We thrilled to our first football and basketball games, and made new friends at our get-acquainted party. Painlessly we became a part of Concordia. sl 5 C-'ni I N V I Al P' -L 4 ,rf A nf ,V ,f M. Let's not forget the girls Every Monday and Friday Concordia's li'l Cadettes donned shorts and gym shoes for their G.A.A. sessions. A new sport was played every six weeks. Several point parties were held to give the girls a chance to earn extra points for their num- erals, letter. and state plaque. A Mother-Daughter Banquet climaxed the year, at which time next year's officers were elected and the girls received their awards. First fore: M. Merkle. J. Seddlemeyer. Sports Heads, J. Wern- er. It seems like only yesterday that we scurried around the halls trying to find the next room on otus schedule cards. There were new friends and many a mysterious cranny to be discovered. As Sophomores we knew all the ropes and entered into school and social activities with more confidence. Asjuniors we did our share in helping the wheels of Concordia run smoothly. Suddenly, we were seniors, the most covented year at Concordia. Somehow we got our assignments done and still found time for all the special activities. None of us will every forget such events as Home- coming, Valpo Day, the Senior Play, Skip Day and the Senior Ban- quet. As June approached and along with it Baccalaureate Services and Graduation we grew a little sentimental about leaving our alma mater. We realized it was time to put to good use our motto, God is our guide-as onward we strive. That meant accepting more responsibility, prepar- ing to take over the wheels', of Concordia. Sobered and saddened by the un- timely death of one of our classmateshjirn Schroeder, we took ourselves in hand and determined to work harder at this business of school. We worked hard to make our parties a success and worked just as hard to make the Senior banquet a wondtwful memory. Our long 'awaited class rings arrived in the fall. All we know is that the Hand of Omniscient Providence sud- denly converted the means of transporta- tion into the instrument of violent de- struction. And now there remains four things . . . a name, james Schroeder, a memory of a fine Christian student, a dutiful son, a handsome escort, a boy of many talents, and a serious-minded young American, a question we cannot answer, What was his part in God's plan? The influ- ence he had on all who knew him was perhaps more prominent than that many others are able to projectg a dedication In the memory of Jim Schroeder, we who knew him dedicate ourselves to the continuance of the principles for which our brother in Christ stood until he received his crown of life.', Q: 9, lb.. if if A iff..
