Glory Blessum flsabelj converses with her friend from the, other world QDave Lommenj in lean Giraudoux's intellectual comedy, The Enchanted, which demonstrates the conllict between rational and spiritual values. Concordia Theatre er arming in our plays EWCOMERS to the stage and theatre vet- erans combined their talents to produce Hedda Gablerf' The Enchantedf' Macbeth and All My Sons in a very successful season. Ibsen's piece, 'Hedda Gabler, starring Erma An- derson in the title role opened the season. The pictures represented on these two pages repre- sent the production of the second play, The En- chanted, a satiric fantasy set in France. It is im- possible to portray all that goes into each drama produced by Concordia Theatre. The carpenter work in the basement of the Health Center, the sewing of costumes in the lower depths of Park Region, the painting of sets on stage, the gathering of properties from far and wide and the hours spent in rehearsing are seldom considered by audiences. 126 Artist Course, Lecture Series Sharing culture with the commzmizyf ? af- HE Concordia Artist course in its thirty-third . annual season presented choir, recital, symphony and chamber music. T The Pamplona Choir, the first Spanish choral group of this kind to appear in North America, sang in the Memorial Auditorium in October. Rita Streich, a musician with a voice of rare beauty was well received. The Quartetto Di Roma presented with piano and strings magnificent interpretations in perfect ensemble. The performances of Szymon Goldberg, violinist, the New Art Wind Quintet and the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra rounded out Concordia's guest offerings for the season. Several distinguished lecturers also appeared on campus to broaden our knowledge in special fields. The public was welcome at all such school functions. l We as VY Y Commi A professional photographer, Samuel Rosenberg, rnade a two- day visit to our campus to lecture on design in photography. C 0 1 Pianist Pennario, played a Ianuary concert in the Heldhouse under the auspices of the Concordia College Artist Course. The Pamplona Choir from Spain, under the direction of Luis Morondo, included selections by Bela Bartok in their program. . The femedi Sqn' The EI with S iefence on cieng Rita Streich, German coloratura soprano, made a lasting im- pression on her Concordia audience.
