Moving at a snail's pace, freshmen form the inevitable line in order to purchase their textbooks. Opening Week After perplexezjf, eeeeepewezfzve peezee HE freshman testing program during orienta- tion helped place each student in the proper classes. Some discovered themselves temporarily doomed to bone-head English or perhaps were surprised to find themselves in advanced chemistry. After the rigors of orientation the first weeks of school seemed comparatively peaceful. With newly purchased text- books in hand and a trial study card to direct them, frosh frequently found their way to their first classes on time. fAfter all, there are only forty- five rooms on campus in which classes meet.j So classwork began and five hundred and seventy-eight freshmen took their places among the Cobbers. spared follf Registration me arms at the rem S ORIENTATION week nears completion, upper classmen begin to swarm the campus. Regis- tration proceeds with step three, each student hav- ing already completed step two, the scramble to get class cards necessary to fill carefully worked-out schedules or maybe just to avoid those eight o'clock classes. Step three covers the Hnancial aspects of getting a college education. Classes follow closely on the heels of registration and soon note-taking, book- toting Cobbers fill classrooms, labs and library. is Absorbed in her study of biology, Nancy Hammer pores over models displaying the mitotic process. Iohn, Iohnson fills out his papers at the controllerls temporary desk in the fieldhouse Registration, step three, is serious business to administrators and students alike. In a momentary lull, Arvid Olson picks up his class-cards in step two of registration. -To 105
