EXEC U VE 0 FICE LCDR CHARLES S ARRA . TSI LCDR Arrants was commissioned in May of 73 from the University of Louisville' with a de- gree in Political Science. After a short stay in Pensacola, Florida as a student pilot he changed to Surface Warfare Officer and was assigned to USS DETROIT KMSO 4305 as Engineering Offi- cer. He was then assigned to USS L.Y. SPEAR KAS 362 as Engineering Officer and attended Depart- ment Head School in 1980. Upon graduation, he was assigned to USS BARNEY QDDG 6, as Engi- neering Officer and later the USS KALAMA- ZOO KAOR 61 as Operations Officer. LCDR Ar- rants was then assigned a shore billet as Flag Secretary for Commander Training Command U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Presently, he is serving as Executive Officer aboard USS CONCORD CAPS- 52. LCDR Arrants has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal fl Starj, Navy Achieve- ment Medal, Navy Unit Accomodation, Merito- rious Unit, Battle E, National Defense Ribbon and Sea Service C2 Starsj. COMMAND MASTER ' CHIEF BMCM ISWQ RONALD M. CHICK Master Chief Chick was born and raised in Alfred, Maine where he attended Sanford High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marland Chick. In twenty-five years of Naval Service he has served on all types of ships all over the world. While aboard the USS ESSEX QCVS-9J, he participated in the Cuban Blockade of 1962. During the Vietnam era, Master Chief Chick worked the decks of the USS KEMPER COUNTY CLST-8549, USS BEXAR The Bear QAPA-237D and the USS WESTCHESTER COUNTY KLST-11671. Prior to reporting aboard as Concord's Master Chief of the Command, Master Chief Chick was Senior Chief and later Master Chief of the Command on board the USS MANITOWOCKLST-11801. From there, he reported to the Naval Safety Center in Norfolk, VA and inspected over 300 ships for safety and deck related systems. Master Chief Chick has earned one Navy Comendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, five Good Conduct Medals, four Battle Efficiency Ribbons, Navy Expedi- tionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal for Cuba, Vietnam Service Medal, Gallantry Cross Medal with palm, Sea Service Ribbon with four stars and has earned the crossed sabors of the Enlisted Surface Warfare Insignia. Master Chief Chick is married to the former Bonnie L. Ricker also of Alfred, Maine. They have two daughters, Tammy and Kelly. The Master Chief, his wife and daughter Tammy now reside in Virginia Beach, VA.
