Our visit to Split, Yugoslavia was very interesting and required anchoring outside the harbor entrance. Points of interest were Dioklecian Palace built by the Romans in the 3rd century A.D., and Mestrovic's Gallery which contains more than 200 sculptures by the famous Yugoslavian artist. Two days of general visiting were conducted using the ship's boats to ferry people to and from Fleet Landing. Our departure from Split had special significance because from that point we were heading closer to Charleston. The Bell Tower.
