This section of the Senior Corner is set aside to honor outstand- ing Seniors, not only because of their scholarship, but also for their character, leadership, forcefulness and contributions to the school. This year, this honor has been granted to three seniors, all of who fully deserve it. CHRISTINE TORRES, our popular editor of The Drifter , has, A with her dedication and hard work, persistently strived for more school spirit. In spite of her many extracurricular activities, Kris has managed to maintain one of the highest averages in our class, and has truly earned her membership in the Senior Corner. Leadership is the quality that places JOSE MASSO II in this section Being President of both the Student Council and the Honor Society has been a tough job, but Jose has managed to overcome many obstacles and has succeeded in achieving his 'goals for the better- ment of our school. The Senior Corner welcomes him. MARIA ELENA GOMEZ, our energetic and active editor of 1 Comet, has through the years shown her dedication to the school. Although leading a hectic extracurricular life, Meg has still been one of our top students. Her school spirit and friendly personality will long be remembered by the class of '66. Success in life is a matter not so much of talent or opportunity as of concentration and perseverance. - C.W. Wendte. Keep it up! 31

The Senior Comer MR. FRANK E. HIGGINBOTI-IAM Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself and you shall have the sufhage of the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson Although new this year, Mr. I-Iigginbotham, our class sponsor and Math and Physics teacher, has decidedly won a place in our Senior Corner. His determination and enthusiasm in teaching us have opened new horizons and interests to those of us who have been lucky enough to be his students. Mr. Higginbotham has, in more than one way, prepared us for our enirance into the adult world. It has been his dedication in helping us and his personality that have made us admire him as a person and proudly consider him a friend. But above all, it will be his integrity and sincerity that we will always respect and remember. And so, Mr. I-Iigginbotham, it is for all this and more, that we, the Seniors of '66, thank you. 30 A
