E ?ufu'cs azmsu The flolusa Chapter of F. I . A. opened the year with forty-one members, who set to work to make themselves better farmers. The following officers were elected: Logan Ash, President, Clair Shippen, Vice President. Joe lflrisey, Treasurer, Al Gomes, Secretary, Don Sandridge, Reporter, Fred Sandridfze. Sentinel. A county F. F. A. meetins: was held in Uolusa High School music building at which every chapter in the county was represented. lloy Triplett and A. Gomes of Volusa chapter were elected President and Treasurer. In January a regional meeting was held in Chico. At this meeting every chapter was represented by a speaker, two delegates and the advisor. .loe I-irisey entered the speaking contest on Agriculture On the March. He took third place. Roy Triplett and Al Gomes were elected president and treasurer, a great honor for lfolusa chapter. The big social event of the year was the Father and Son Banquet held at the Hotel Riverside, Mr. Davison was the speaker of the evening. Logan Ash and Al Gomes were given honors for being the two outstanding members, and awarded pure bred gilts by the Sears and Roebuck. For chapter projects there were barley, alfalfa and pasture land which were rented to members for their private projects The F. F. A. tractor and other implements did custom work. - , Hoy Triplett, now in the service, applied for the State Farmer Degree in January. This is the highest degree given in the State of California for accomplishment' in F. F. A. work. Mr. Johnson, F. F. A. advisor, deserves much credit for the accomplishments of the hish schooI's most successful organization. DON DAVIS

I OH25 COIZOHZLCQ, Wading knee deep in activities were the members of the Home Ee. fllub for the season 1294-l-iii. After a year of absence from the roll of High School t'lubs, mucn was to be done to make up for the inactivity of 1943!-44. 'l'he 'first meeting of the year decided upon a Iied Cross project. Among things completed in this line were the Thanksmving favors for the soldiers of Camp lleale. The girls gave freely of their time and effort for this, and were rewarded with the thought that it was helping make a holiday a little happier for boys away from home. Never to he forgotten was the night of initiation of new members. Wide eyed and full of anticipation were they. The iniation was done at a ceremony by candlelight. The girls took their pledges and new names were added to the membership roll. 'l'he games, refreslmients and lun held in the gym with the old members and green horns ot' the lf. F. A. brought a climax to this .joyous evening. The club would he no more without the aid of funds so dues of 50 cent: a year were decided upon. and in order to raise additional money a doughnut sale was held one noon hour. The result of the sale ol' these home made delicacies was a net profit of ten dollars and the proud feeling of success to all members. An agreement for the F. lf. A. boys to furnish the ducks and the Home lrlc. girls the coouing and trimmings ended in the form of a delicious duck dinner honoring several members of the ll' lf. A. entering the armed forces. The activity most looked forward to. and for which the Home Ec. t'lub deserves most recognition, fell -on the evening of December 22nd in the high school auditorium. The result of the worries and efforts of Miss Hartncss, the director. the time and uneasiness of the cast, and the work of all, terminated in the presentation of the beautiful and heart warming story of The Perfect Gift. Several very cooperative boys in the student hody gained the respect of all Home Plc. members for the :iving ot' their talents to make the assembly the success that it was. .is the season closes an interesting and successful chapter draws to a close for the Home lilc. l'lub. it is the sincere wish of the senior members ot' tho club that such a year as this will re-occur without fail in the years to come.
