'23 HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF '58' Our education started twelve years ago, way back in 1946, when thirty-eight amazed little boys and girls reported on the first day of school. It was in October of our first year when we enjoyed our first party together as a class. These courageous little darlings were: Shirley Anderson, Sharon Blosser, Judy Bogart, Ruth Busick, Janet Cummins, Helen Darbyshire, Ruby Hartman, Jouce Irwin, Bonnie Kohli, Virginia Diller, Jewelie andludy Gillispie, Roberta Leather- man, Beatrice Lentz, Betty Martz, Judy Mayberry, Patty Mikesell, Maxine Mumea, Colleen Nichols, Florence Risser, Evelyn Smith, Cynthia Watkins, Bobby Clark, Wayne Culp, Gary Downing, Steve Dunlap, Roger Hardesty, Ross Harshman. John Humphreys, Steve Irwin, Jim King, Doug Nance, Larry Niswander, John Phillips, Larry Lusk, Lyle McKanna, Doyle Myers, Billy Trvendle. Our class Progressed through the care and guidance of Mrs. Scheely. Having completed our first year, we were welcomed into our second year by Mrs. Sarka. Charles Ridenger was our only new member. Having reached our third year we were greeted by Mrs. Roberts. We stumbled into the fourth year and found Mrs. Basinger as our teacher. That year we met Myrna Mackaman. Our fifth year we met Mrs. Garver. That was the year when Helen Darbyshire broke her collarbone. Jim Garver was our only newcomer. Now we are in the sixth grade, and rulers of the playground. Mrs. Sherrard was our teacher. Having reached our half-way mark we were now on our way upward. It took quite a while to get straightened out with our new surroundings. The upper classmates at our confusion! Also in the seventh year the safety Patrol was started with us as its first members. We greeted Gary Dunnett that year. Mr. Pickens acted as our advisor. In our eighth year Mr. Stackhouse was our class advisor and took over the responsibility of preparing us for High School. That year we met Dalles Lusk. We made it! High School! That brought us many friends from St. Anthony's. Judy Eversole, Sharon F ocht, Agnes F uerst, Yvonne Geredman, Margaret F uerst, Marcia M218-2. Jeanne Mayberry, Mary Schroeder, Evelyn Schumaker, Judy Se1h0rst,I0an Smith, Alice Verhoff, Arthur Alt, Alton Kiene, Eugene Ricker, Kenny Schroeder. F rom Cairo came: Janice Altstaetter, Sharon Altstaetter, Teresa Clum, Mary Williams, Jim Breneneman, Ron Coffman, Gerald Lamb, Fred Locker, Don Routson, John Sosoman, Ronnie Weaver. Mr. Shank was our advisor. Entering into our Sophomore year, we had many things planned for us. The most exciting was the selection of class rings, biology trips, and twenty students were selected to be servers for the Junior and Senior Prom. That year we met Bill Rodenberger, Ronnie Obee, and John Graham. With the arrival of our Junior year, under the direction of Mr. Patton, our class rings finally arrived! In November of that year we presented our Junior Play Maudie and the OpPPOsite Sex. We had loads of fun but a lot of hard work preparing for our Junior-Senior Prom. For the Prom we chose the theme Evening in Paris. It seems that we are always selling something, annual ads, magazinesg coffee and sandwiches at the ball games. Homecoming was an important event during football season, with Sharon and Alton reigning as king and queen. We are all looking forward to our senior play. Don Bishop was our only newcomer. The class of 1958 will long remember the different organizations we had the privilege to belong to, our chapel periods, our parties, our teachers, remember even the just beingtogethern for the twelve years during our school life. Our years of school are fast drawing toa closeg but memories of our Columbus Grove school days will never be forgotten. 24 IUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS B111 Hofferbert, Presidentg Dick Moffat, Vice-Presidentg Virginia Stechschulte, Sec- retaryg Pat Maag, Treasurer. 26 ET 'Q S-ar' ' ' U 97,9 Twila Amstutz Kay Barnum Carol Bartz George Best John Best Thomas Birkemeyer Wanda Bok David Bourquin Carol Buckingham Larry Cattell Loretta Caudill Octavio Cruz Betty Culp William Darbyshire Alice Davisson Donald Doty Ronald Doty Judy Dunlap Paul Evans Bary Eversole Gene Foltz Bob Graham Bill Hofferbert Eugene Hoyt Sharon Huber Janice Irwin Karen Jones Norman Karcher Patricia Kissell Robert Kissell Elmer Langhals Roberta Leatherman Larry Lusk Patrick Maag David Marks Betty Martz Judy Mayberry Charles Meyer Iim Meyer Carolyn Millet Richard Moffat Joan Morman Maxine Mumea I im Nance Larry Niswander Charles Pugh Larry Rodenberger Janice Schindler Howard Schroeder Kirsten Smith Donald Sneary Virginia Steckschulte Bill Thomas Ronald Turner Mary Volkmer Harry Watkins Sharon Wood , ' .Y A ,X SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS Gary Altstaetter, Presidentg Rebecca Graham, Vice-Presidentg Patricia Shank, Sec- retaryg Treasurer, Io Lamb. 29 E .,4v.:lJL Plan lot Av-LU.
