PROPHECY Gee, it is dark up here; maybe they haven’t turned on the lights in the plane yet. Maybe you would like to know where we are going. We are going to the moon for a class reunion. It has been twenty years since the class of 1957 has had a reunion. We are being flown to the moon by Sam Barto, Wayne Blubaugh, and Gary Bricker in their own atomic planes. I know Carol Risser can’t be in all three planes at once, but she divides her time equally among these planes as an Air Line Hostess. I thought they would never turn on those lights, now we can see who is around us. There is Joan Bricker and Brenda Bell. Back on earth they give Marilyn Monroe (what did she do any more) ducktails. Gee, I guess it feels rather funny for Dick Birkemeyer, David Rummel, and Garnett Ridenour to be in a plane. They are Admirals in the Navy now. They better watch it or they will get sea-sick in the plane. Ohl Ohl There goes our motor out again. Oh, well, never fear when George Donaldson, Larry Martz, Don Johnston, and Duanne Reed are in the plane. They will have it fixed in no time; then we will be on our way. You do know, don’t you, that those boys are chief mechanics at General Motors. There is Doyle Foltz with his private secretary, Mary Stechschulte. Wouldn’t it be nice if they got married? But Doyle is still a bachelor and Mary is a spinster. Now we have started again. The secretaries Dorothy Carpenter, Lorna Craig, Clarine Hoffman, Nona Wood, Sallie Irwin, Shirley Ramsey, Jean Kohli, and Wilma Meyer are taking notes all along so earth people will know what happens on the way to the moon, after we get there, and on the way home. These girls are combining business with pleasure. There is Barry Blosser, Tom Best, Jacque Donovan, and Bill Smith trying to throw their weight around. Just because they are millionaires on Earth, they try try to boss everybody around even off the Earth. Tom Maag, who is taking care of your 58,000 chickens. Oh, I bet Wayne Smith and Bob Wood are angry since they couldn’t make this trip. They had to stay home and help the Internal Revenue count their money. We have now arrived. Who would ever think our own classmates Bob Blankemeyer, Dean Begg, Joe Karcher, and Mark Schroeder would be the first farmers on the moon. They send green cheese to the Earth. There are nurses Carol Bogart, Virginia Hitchcock, Beverly Jones, and Sharon Turner taking care of Rita Elliott’s children. Too bad she couldn’t have got a baby sitter on this occasion. How can the Earth schools get along without these principals, Madalyn Verhoff and Shirley Eversole, and their Superintendent Sylvia McKanna? How, we will never know. Jon Miller is now president of Ohio State University. The first engineers to ever live on the moon were our own Jerry Altstaetter, Ed Humphreys, and Gene Donovan. They are used to these “Moon men’’ by mow. I think! I know there are three coaches (Jack Callahan, Mike Unverferth, and Jim Doty) who will never get over their winning team. They haven’t lost a game in eight years. Alll of our class are famous in their own minds. These housewives (Bonnie Krontz, Jerry Hoyt, Jackie Fruchey, Anna Knott, and Gloria Dunlap) love being just Mrs. Housewife. They are gabbing about their homes and children. A very good subject for these girls. We must leave this moon. The Earth people can only stay on the moon a very short time, unless you are accustomed to the atmosphere. So we bid farewell to our classmates, who have to stay. Let’s all get aboard the plane. It leaves in five minutes. Next stop, Earthl 25
