As Freshmen, we were not by any means the shy type. We managed to survive the ordeal of Freshman initiation by grim endurance. Under the able leadership of our president, Jack Fellers, we had a very successful year. Perhaps by luck, we all returned ready, willing, and able for our Sophomore year. This year was spent mostly in earning money for our Junior year activities. Our president fora this year was Bill Brown. The word work reminds us all of our Junior year. Selling refreshments at the football and basketball games was one of the major projects we undertook in order to earn money for our big event of the year, the Junior-Senior Prom. We also presented the play, Finders Creepers, and selected our class rings. This year we were under the leadership of Ray Ober- holtzer, our president. And now as we think of our Senior year, we can all say that we have gained much from the experiences of our high school years. The main project of the Senior year, our annual, was started on its way. Then we presented the Senior play, Rebel Without a Cause. This was our year for publishing the school paper, and a new look was introduced. Having our pic- tures taken and ordering our class cards were two of the many traditional things which we did during this year. Our president was Jim Rupert. And now as June, 1959, rolls around we come to the most important step we have made thus far - our graduation. VRF Z ' V34 - A-V x A , Al . O . gn .1 ' s f How weird Mr. and Mrs. Stark 8 - Stranger? At the right are Head Coach George Fisher and Assistant Coach Rich Berryman and As- sistant C oach Ted Ossoff, Compliments of BEN FRANKLIN STORE Jim, one of our co-captains, played a terrific game at center and was a tiger at the defensive linebacker position. Very seldom did a runner get by him. Be- cause of this, Jim was given an honorable mention berth on the All-Tri-County team. His fine playing will be hard to duplicate next year. Carlyle, our other co-captain was the right guard, and a very good one. His fine defensive work helped the team greatly this year. He was the key to the Clippers offense, Carlyle was chosen to the sec- ond team All-Tri-County this year, Stan, at his end position, displayed some beautiful downfield blocking and also did a terrific job at de- fensive halfback. He was given an honorable men- tion position on the All-Tri -County team. His abil- ity to catch almost any pass thrown to him will be greatly missed by next year's team, Art played his first year of varsity ball. He dis- played outstanding line play, opening many holes in the opposition's forward wall. Art was also a mainstay on the defensive line. His absence will be felt by next year's team, Tom, although only a junior, played his third year with varsity, His great defensive and offensive line play was a great help to this year's team. Because of his ability, Tom was selected for the first team All-Tri -County. He will be a bit asset to next year's team. Ray, also his first year of varsity ball, was standout at his defensive position. He filled in equally well at the offensive guard position. He will be a big as- set to next year's team, Alan was another lad who won his varsity letter as a defensive linebacker, He also filled in capably in the Clipper backfield. He should be of great value to next year's team. Roger was a defensive standout this year at the line- backer position. He helped break up many passes. He should be outstanding next year for the Clipper eleven. This page sponsored by KENMAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY East Palestine, Ohio Ray was our quarterback this year and a good one. His signal calling and his passing ability will be a big asset to next year's team. Jim was plagued by a shoulder injury this year. When he was in there, he gave his best. He should be a credit to next year's team. Don earned his varsity letter as a capable front line replacement both offensively and defensively. He should be a big help to next year's team. Don was a standout on this year's team, in that he had the ability to catch passes from almost any an- gle. He will be a capable performer for the Clipper squad for the next two seasons. Gary played a good game at fullback this year. His many long runs and his power to bust through the line helped greatly thisyear. Hewill be the spark for the Clipper's backfield next year. Larry showed his football ability by making several nice runs, He was adequate at the defensive half- back position. He should help next year's team. Paul was an excellent defensive halfback this year. He filled in at offensive halfback when the need arose. The Clipper fans can look for two more years of varsity action from him, This page is sponsored by KENMAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY East Palestine, Ohio Varsity Cheerleaders The Reserve Cheerleaders are Betsy Det- wiler, Janice Toot, Lana Keller, and Sher- ry Ward.
