Class History Listen good people, and you shall hear the history of the only class Columbiana High School will ever have to graduate--in 1957. Perhaps the rnost memorable event was that wonderful day i.n September of 1953, when we started our high school career. We were little green Freshies then, but as we were naturally bright, it didn't take us long to be- come accustomed, At the begining of the year, with the help of our able sponsors Mrs. Jackson and Miss Roller, we elected the following as our class officers: PRESIDENT ------- - - John Longsworth VICE PRESIDENT ---- - - Ruth Messersrnith SECRETARY ----- ---- ---- P a t Paulson TREASURE! ------- - - - - - - Pam Poulton GIRLS' ATHLETIC CH - - - - - - Doris Gross BOYS' ATHLETIC Cl-I - - - - - - Jim Bookwalter GIRLS' SOCIAL CH - - - ----- Carol Spanabel BOYS' SOCIAL CH - - - ---- Leon Ross The fall of '54 found us in the halls of C. H. S. again, this time as sophisticated sophomores. Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Liston helped us plan and carry out our activities that year. The officers were: PRESIDENT ---- ---- ' - Carol Fisher VICE PRESIDENT - - ---- - - - - Jack Dowd SECRETARY - - - ------- ----- J ohn Longsworth TREASURER ----- ------- ---- Le 0 n Ross GIRLS' SOCIAL CH - - ---- - - Pam Poulton BOYS' SOCIAL CH- - - - - Don Longshore GIRLS' ATHLETIC CH- - - - - - Pat Paulson BOYS' ATHLETIC CH- - - - Jim Bookwalter Our Junior year was packed with activities-selling refreshments at the basketball and football games, getting our class rings, producing Cu.rtainGoing Up, our Junior Play, and putting on a superb Junior-Senior prom, Our patient and understanding sponsors were Mr. Strausbaugh and Mr. Roth. Our officers this year were: PRESIDENT ---- ------------------------ D on Fellers VICE PRESIDENT - - ----- - - Ruth Messersmith TREASURER ---- - - - - Jim Bookwalter GIRLS' SOCIAL CH - - ----- - - - Doris Gross BOYS' SOCIAL CH - - - - -Herbert Ramsey BUSINESS MANAGER -------- - - Carol Fisher ASSISTANT BUSINESS MANAGER - - - - Bill Hutton ASSISTANT BUSINESS MANAGER - - - - Suzanne Nelson When we were Seniors, under Mr. Barton's guidance, we had a very active year. We successfully presented our class play, The Brainstorm, under the direction of Mrs, Jackson. Our officers were: PRESIDENT --------- ----- ------ Ru t h Messersmith VICE PRESIDENT - - - - - - ----- DOH Fellers SECRETARY .-.-. ------- ------ H e ather Haney TREA SURH1 ....... ------ ------- P e g Sitler GIRLS' ATHLETIC CH ------- - - - ----- Doris Gross BOYS' ATHLETIC CH - - - - - - - ----- Herbert Ramsey GIRLS' SOCIAL CH - - - - - - - Carol Spanabel BOYS' SOCIAL CH - - - - - - - Bill Hutton In May we found ourselves all too soon at the end of our Senior year. After much work and-a lot of fun, which we would never have missed for anything, we have come to the close of our high school days. I Thus ends the eventful history of the class of 1957,
