The greatest thing about the camping trip is the freedom — not of actions, but of mind. We are not free to do whatever we want, for the trip is very structured. We are, however, free from many of our inhibitions. It's like a whole new world in Milford, Pa. People often drop their guards and allow them- selves to meet new people, speak their mind and just be themselves. The set-up of the trip itself helps people get their freedom. There is a communications period each night, the MODS are informal, meals are in one place and at a certain time, and the ASE at the end gathers everything together. Having gone on this trip last year, it was probably easier for me to put down those inhibitions, and once they're down, the trip changes from great to fantastic.
