MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL TO the Seniors: I suppose most of you seniors are giving considerable thought to your plans after graduation. Most of you know what you are going to begin, but few of you know exactly what life has in store for you. If you did, much of the joy and pleasure of living would be removed, for we human beings thrive on the ambitions, anticipations, hopes, and plans which make living the glorious adventure that it is. • In your educational experience and life thus far you should have dis- covered yourselves to a certain extent. You should now appreciate many of your abilities and disabilities, your likes and your dislikes, your strengths and your weaknesses. You should know these better than anyone else— parent, teacher, or friend. Your task is to take stock of these personal quali- ties and fit yourselves into the world in such a way as to insure your own best adjustment to your fellows and the material world about you. It seems that you are going to participate in a more highly developed and sensitively adjusted cooperative society than has existed heretofore. If so, you will have a more challenging life than members of past generations have had. In the kind of cooperative society that will be tolerated in this democracy of ours the individual will be called on to adjust himself to more things and more people than has been the case heretofore. There will be greater, not less, challenge to the individual than ever before, and therefore more satisfaction. I suspect your greatest needs in the living that stretches out ahead of you will be faith in yourselves and confidence in other people. Each of you has ability. Make the most of it. Most of the people whom you meet are all trying to do the right thing. Be friendly with them. Success and happiness do not come from the outside world, but come from within yourselves.
