Mr. Arley Kerr Superintendent of Schools This is the story of Columbia City High School from September, 1948, to June, 1949. It is told mainly through pictures, in order to show that students go to school for reasons other than because they must. They are shown sob erly taking part in the more serious phases of their education, but many times they are ca ught in a lighter mood, because in high school the feet and the heart are both very light. Within a stone's throw of this high school are located the birthplace of Lloyd Douglas, author of The Robe, The Big Fisherman, and other books, the home of Thomas R. Marshall, former governor of Indiana and vice-president of the United States, and the residence of Ralph R. Gates, class of 1911, former governor of Indiana. And now, you ask, can we expect greatness in thought and deed of the citizens of to- morrow? The answer is Not yet. This sch 001 has not fulfilled its mission. You will have to go inside the four brick walls. The Annual Board of Columbia City High School now proudly presents its Picture Book. 6
