'  |f ' 9 : ' .:s i :iABLE d OONTENTB -:ci ? ' : Are We Ready to Confront the World? . . . this should be the challeng- ing question in our lives as we sit in each class, study each book, write each paper, and diligently prepare our minds for the task that is before us, so that we might be able to point many to the truth of the Scriptures who will in turn, faithfully teach oth- ers. Have We Encouraged One Another In the Path of Prayer? Great men and women of old were able to confront the world because of their powerful prayer lives and strong communion with the Lord. In the same way, our lives should be character- ized by a steady increase in prayer, along with our study of the Word. Those who fail in this are described as withered branches cut off from the nourishment of the Vine. Are we encouraging the prayer lives of our brothers and sisters to reflect con- cern for a spiritually and physically oppressed world? Does Our Love Show Him to the World? The fellowship of believers, the unity of Christian hearts, the encouragement given by our brothers and sisters are all part of the plan of preparation. With- out these vital elements, our ministry would be ste- rile and ineffective. The constant contact with other believers provides an outlet for Christian love and serv- anthood, preparing us now for future ministry to the needy world. Do We Live and Work and Have Our Being i n Him? Therefore, Be Ready in Every Aspect of Life. Thank You, Lord, for Mr. Scott In a world of skeptics Who trample underfoot God ' s Word of Truth In a generation of error Who choose the wide, well-favoured path In a society of shallow men Who ridicule our fathers ' lasting faith How can we confront the disbelief? YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH. . . The Truth of God ' s creation The Truth of the narrow way The Truth of an established faith AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE! Thank you, Lord Jesus, For helping us to see your order and design For exposing error and guiding us to truth For tracing out the richness of our heritage Through Your servant, RAYMOND SCOTT. There will be no pop quizzes in this class; but when we study Egypt, there will be mummy quizzes. Anyone who has taken a course in Science, Church History, or Cults, knows this to be one of the famous puns of Mr. Scott. Because of his background as a laboratory scientist, and then several years as a pastor, Mr. Scott thoroughly prepares students to recognize the errors and the truth of Sci- ence and History as they relate to the Scriptures. Those who know him describe him as warm, encouraging, humble, and disciplined, demonstrating a sincere love for students. But most of all, he is known as a man who loves God and His Ways. The 1978 Finial is dedi- cated to Mr. Raymond L. Scott, who has committed himself to making students ready to confront the world. Pe — Truth Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, which is in righteousness: that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.
