Fall Changes: A Prelude to Homecoming The gala affair of Colorado College ' s Ninth Presidential Inaguration marked a period of growth and change at Colorado College. For this event, a fresh coat of paint miraculously covered Cutler Hall, Leisure Program Committees worked long hours to fill the week with cultural diversions, and the preppy Saga picnic exceeded the beliefs of students and administration alike. Newly inagurated President Riley appeared in the College ' s newest acquisition, a tailor-made gold- threaded, heavy inagural gown. The Senior Class rose to the momentous occasion by sponsoring a half time float competition, the All-Star Kazoo band and, an all-campus party, as well as the traditional dowdy cheerleading squad. After the CC football team defeated Milton College, all retired to primp for the Inagural Ball. CC students discovered the joys of blown fuses and borrowed ties (not to mention shirts, dresses, coats and shoes). A return to the traditional three bands pleased all music lovers and claustrophobics. Since none of the bands appeared in the Broadmoor West, submarine race watchers had to park on the west side of the Broadmoor in order to take advantage of the scenic beauty of the lake (not to mention anything else). Oh God, our help. I he psychological preparation is tremendous, but some swimmers master the mental skills to excel in the physical acts. The CC Women ' s Swim Team enjoyed a successful 1981- 82 season. Although they lost some meets due to a lack of depth, individual swimmers consistently placed first in their races. Men ' s Swimming Here come de Judge The Big Cats were led by Eric Tibby, who qualified for Nationals but had to pay his own way because of new post-season competition financing policies. On the lighter side, Rob, Mike, and Barry were left temporarily stranded at a Texas motel. The team had been on the road for an hour before the absences were noticed and the bus turned back to retrieve the forgotten swimmers. I,.
