H C. C. PLAYERS RADIO The speech department has made great strides this year under the able direction of Woodson Tyree, assisted by David Hart. In the drama di- vision the C.C. players have presented three plays. The first of the year was The Twins, a modern version of The Twin Menaechmi by Plautus. It starred John Reeds and Peter Buchan as the twins, with Caryl Spiegel and Dusty Krause as the wife and the mistress, respectively. The second production was a new and spritely version of Shakespeare ' s The Taming of the Shrew. The leading roles were taken by Dusty Krause and Pete Buchan. This play was taken to Castle Rock for a performance, where it was highly re- ceived. The third play was an original by a member of the Speech department, Eldor Main- ville. Members of the C.C. players picture d are Mr. Tyree, Wes Bradley, John Reeds, Bob Fisher, Peter Gilleran, Caryl Spiegel, Ann Sawle, Carol Gaeble, Pete Tyree, Ruth Reeds, Billy Jones, Jim Wischmeyer. Carol Turnbull, Peggy Merle-Smith, Dusty Krause, and Susie Sabin. The debate team under the direction of Mr. Hart won acclaim when they took the Debate contest held at Boulder, Colorado. The winning teams pic- tured with Mr. Hart are Irving Andrews, 8111 Shaeffer, Robert York and Walter Layton. Other members not pictured are James Turk. Vernon Twombly. William Grate, and William Barton. A new division of the Speech department-, which in years to come will develop into a popular course is Radio Production. Mr. Tyree with the aid of Mr. Fundingsland has had complete radio e q uipment installed in South Hall. There will be telephone lines to KRDO and KVOR so that all of the C.C. programs will be sent from the Studio at South Hall. The studio has two turn- tables, with three mikes, and complete operating equipment. Among the C.C. programs, there are two music shows, a drama show, a children ' s program, two forums, and a farm show.
