SCHOOL BOARD MARY ELLEN WILLIAMS COMSTOCK Mrs. Comstock is a graduate of Longwood College and is em- ployed at the Petersburg School of Childhood Kindergarten. Quite active in the community, Mrs. Comstock has given much of her time to various charitable organizations. Heir interests in education are: As a school board member, my chief interests in your education are that you may develop an awareness of your moral responsibilities in life, that each of you may receive a most effective training, which will enable you to utilize your talents to the fullest. ROBERT ALAN LOPER Mr. Loper attended Cornell and the University of Wisconsin and is employed by the United States Army Logistics Manage- ment Center, Fort Lee. Also active in the community Mr. Loper is local past president and state director of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In regards to education Mr. Loper's attitude Was: To free the professional teacher of clerical and other non-pro- fessional duties so that he has time to teach in an environment conducive to learning. NAURICE WILTON KIDD Dr. Kidd received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Southern College of Optometry and is self-employed in Colonial Heights. He is a member of the Colonial Heights Lion's Club and a Director of Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan Association. As chairman of the School Board he desires: 'GTO give our children and community the best school system possible? RICHARD LYON JONES Mr. Jones attended the University of Virginia and received his L.L.B. Degree from Law School. He is self-employed and enjoys a large practice in the tri-city area. Mr. Jones has been an active Worker in the Kiwanis Club as well as the Boy Scouts. When asked what were his main interests in local education he replied, Adequate school facilities, higher scholarship and a broad extracurricular programf' WINTHROP ROSER CARTER Mr. Carter attended Lynchburg College and is currently em- ployed by the Norfolk and Western Railroad. Serving as clerk of the School Board, Mr. Carter's interests in the school system were, LLAIHPIC classrooms to accommodate pupils, qualified teachers, and a curriculum to meet the ne-eds of Colonial Heights studentsf' FRANKLIN PIERCE BRYANT Mr. Bryant attended V.P.I. and received a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed by the Quartermaster Field Evaluation Agency, Fort Lee. Mr. Bryant is quite active in the affairs of Highland Methodist Church and when asked what his interests were in the education of Colonial Heights students he replied, uThat each pupil in our school system has every possible opportunity to prepare himself for a fruitful life. ll mis? ll' . if. Mr. Dalton, who has been asso- ciated with the schools in Colonial Heights for a number of years is con- sidered one of the top administrators in this area. In spite of his crowded schedule, he can always find time to help any student or teacher when help is needed. ww W Mr. Louis N. Dalton, Principal Mr. Smith is well equipped for his tremendous job as assistant principal be- cause he has experienced almost all the problems that a teacher or principal has, for he has been both.
