Cowboq SENIOR CLASS ln September I937, a group of fifty-six freshmen marched up the steps of Colome High School and took places in shiny saddles vacated by the class of the previous year. On September 2 their first class meeting was held and Pat Flynn was elected presi- dent: Bill Burke, vice-presidentg Elizabeth Eckerman, secretary: and Max Thompson, treasurer. This class was sponsored by Mr. Plachy. This same group returned again in the fall of '38 with a membership of 44, spon- sored by Miss Winters. The following officers were elected: Pat Flynn was again chosen for president: Donald Schweigert, vice-president: Esther Steckling, secretary: and William Lenker, treasurer. Mr. Gustafson and Miss Helene Jackson were sponsors during our adventurous year as juniors. Officers elected were Rosalind Taggart, president: Martha Vavra, vice-president: june Lundstrom, secretary: ancl Elizabeth Eckerman, treasurer. The juniors presented the play, Be Yourself, under the direction of Miss jackson. The annual carnival, E.moloc, was very successfully given in the new auditorium. Cn May I6 the juniors were hosts to the Seniors at the junior-Senior Banquet with the emblem of the Little Dutch Garden. ln the fall of l940 the juniors took up their rusty saddles as Seniors under the guidance of Mr. Wm. Hunting and Miss Winters. The Seniors elected Harold Wood, president: William Burke., vice-president: Beryl Boerner, secretary: and Martha Vavra, treasurer. Miss Winters sponsored the porduction of the play, Tish, pre- sented May 9. Many events have made this year, as well as many others, very suc- cessful and pleasant. lt is with much regret that we now will depart from old C. H. S., where we have passed many happy and profitable hours.
