One of the most impressive advantages that attendance at Colome High School offers to out-of-town students and patrons, is the definitely superior dormitory facilities we have available here. The fact that it was, at its inception, and remains so, the largest in this area, is due to the unique needs that a dormitory meets in this section of the country. Our relatively unimproved roads and sparse population scattered over wide areas does not lend itself to consolidation and problems of daily transportation which it involves. During the six years of successful operation, its continued growth and expansion has given ample evidence of the intrinsic value of the service to the community. This project has been made available to us and staffed through the Profess- ional and Service Division of the Work Project Administration. Also an Arts and Crafts Shop and a purely recreational program for the profitable use of the leisure time of the boys and girls is supplemented by the Recreation Division of the above named agency. Our program includes a systematic individual physical inspection at regular intervals. Regular habits of rest and recreational activity and balanced diet have contributed to the well being of a large group of children that would other- wise be underpriveledged. In addition to the natural adjustments of constructive living provided by dormitory life, our directive personnel provide for formal instruction in social behavior. 16 f

C. H. S. yzglqiqg, The National Youth Administration has been a most valuable contributing agency for the very life and vitality of our educational system. Without the aid furnished by the NYA, a large group of our student body would find it impossible to continue their education. We are more than pleased that government appreciates the great service rendered by the NYA and is making plans for it's continued existence. ARTS AND CRAFTS 15
