To inform students of the many opportunities awaiting them in the business world, and to aid them in choosing the occupation for which they are best suited, was the goal of FBLA. Members enrolled in commercial courses and met to formulate ideas for money-making projects. The goal of this year’s members was to send representatives to the convention in Florida in the spring. Two members also attended the state convention in Chicago in November. ’Jwtm Homernkw, 'julm tMwu J-mMm Among the organizations that helped in preparation for the years to come was the Future Homemakers of America. The club’s president, Ed Kirby, organized several projects for the 1970-71 school year. During pep week, FHA awarded a ticket daily to the student who best displayed school spirit. During the first week in December, the club sponsored a student clean-up drive, which they conducted in the cafeteria during lunch hours, and around the school in the mornings. FIRST ROW: J. Evanoff, B. Rinehart, K. Klobuchar, T. Thompson, R. Vallino, L. Schultze. Future Nurses Club was organized to help experience interested girls in the field of nursing. Activities included visiting hospitals and nursing homes, working for the March of Dimes, and being enlightened by guest speakers. The money-making project this year was the sale of stationery. At the end of the year a party was held and outstanding members were awarded charms. The goal of the Future Teachers of America is to prepare interested students for a teaching career. This year FTA participated in National Education Week by passing out apples to the teachers, and the club also hosted the Open House Tea for teachers and parents. Throughout the year Senior members were engaged in cadet teaching at nearby elementary schools. Besides filling in for absent teachers, members also graded papers and assisted the teachers’ aides. The primary concern of the members of the Camera Club was supplying pictures for the school student publications. The members were responsible for most of the pictures which appeared in the KAHOKI, and many in the KAHOKIAN. Plans for this year included cleaning the darkroom and the initiation of training in which experienced members taught those who wished to learn photography. The club functioned under Mr. Geroff, sponsor; and Karen Bingaman, president. Members of the Audio-Visual Club donated one study hall a day to aid the teachers of CHS in the operation of machines such as, slide and filmstrips, tape recorders and record players. Three of four field trips were planned to sites such as an Audio Visual Center in St. Louis, a television center, and the University Audio Visual Center. The club’s presiding officer was John Wood.
