She attended the Beatrice schools and was graduated from Beatrice High School. Shortly afterward, she went to the state ot Mississippi where she was employed as a teacher. After her marriage to Harry M, Housman, they made their home in Mayfield, Kentucky, until Mr. Housman's death in l9l8. Mrs. Housman returned to Nebraska and resumed her education. Page IN MEMORIAM Carol Hatch November ll, 1937-November 8, 1954 There is a Gleaner whose name is Death And with the sharp knife keen He gleans the full grown grain in a breath And the flowers and Buds of Promise between. Shall I have naught that is Fairg And use only the full grown grain? When Buds of Promise are so sweet to me, Our Creator will preserve them for me. He gazed at the Buds with tearful eyes: He kissed their youthful leaves. This is for the Lord of Paradise I bind Thee in my sheaves. Oh not in cruelty or in wrath The Gleaner came this way It was God's messenger who sought This Bud to assist in the crowning day. Ethel T. Not more than fifteen percent of the senior class may become members. Five percent of these are chosen in their junior year and the remaining ten percent are chosen in their senior year. This high honor is awarded to the students whom the faculty believe to be deserving of it. Due to the size of the class of 1955, Lou Ann Rogers was- the only member of her class to receive the honor in her junior year. On May lU, Glenn Hoy and Mary White were chosen to make up the remaining ten per- cent of their class. Lewis Brown and lim Murphy were the two members of the junior class to become members. This year the National Honor Society has sponsored the convocations honoring the Honor Roll Students and their parents. Confident Living in the High School Wor1d was the theme of the fall program. Connie Schmidt, Nancy Mehuron, Ieffre Cheuvront, Brenda Kraatz, lim Dill, Zean Carney, Bill Barnhouse, lim Mur- phy, Lewis Brown, and lack Harvey gave speeches which they had written on the traits they felt necessary for confident living in the high school world. The Living Constitution was the theme chosen for the spring program and was a program designed to in- form the audience of the true meaning of each phrase of the preamble to the Constitution. Lewis Brown, Zean Carney, Ieffre Cheuvront, David Edwards, Brenda Kraatz, Nancy Mehuron, Iim Murphy, Lou Ann Rogers, Robert Sellards, and Mary White were speakers, with the as- sistance ot a speaking choir consisting of the Honor Students from the ninth through twelfth grades. The programs were presented through the coopera- tion of the music, art, business, and English departments. Mrs. Fern Housman has been the sponsor of the group.
