The Samuel A. Kruse Chapter of the Future Teachers of America Club was organized in College High School this year. It was formed to provide an opportunity for those interested in becoming teachers to study the pro- fession of teaching and to create an interest among other students in the teaching profession. The Club is spon- sored by student-teachers who are members of Kappa Delta Pi, a national teacher fraternity. Projects chosen for the year included a reading shelf containing materials pertaining to teaching, an assembly program, and a pro- gram of observation in the elementary grades. 29 I

Each year the faculty selects as new members the Juniors and Seniors who meet the requirements. The requirements of the National Honor Society are very high. They are Leadership, Service, Character, and Scholarship, and a B average. All these requirements must be met to become a member. Mr. W. A. Ownbey is the sponsor of this organization. His guidance helps to make this organization one of the highest honors in the school. We are very proud to have the National Honor Society in our school and we hope it will continue to go forward in the future. 28
