Burneson. Mr. B , as many of us call him, is the Supervisor of Science and is the Drivers Education instructor. I-le sponsors the Freshman Class, Student Council, Green Dragon Dramatic Club, and National Thespian So- ciety. These dramatics sponsorships are in keeping with his many talents, for he is a thespian of renown him- self. ' Mr. Burneson is ra member of the Executive Board in the Community Theater and played the part of a naval officer in its layst play, Two BlindMice . This was a role in keeping with real life, for he is a Training Officer in the Naval Reserve. He was in the Navy during the war and was Communications Officer on Attu, an island on the Alaskan coast. Mr. Burneson is sponsor of the Benton Society and A.P.O., and is on the Social Life Communittee at the college. , All the world's a stage . . . and one man in his time must play many parts. This can truly be said of Mr. Burneson, for he certainly has. .m NIMCPL KIHIHWIIWIIHIIWIIHIMWIIIIHlllllilllllllllll . 8 . . 3 0000 00161051 2 LOUIS HENRY STRUNK IRVIN A. KELLER B. S. in Ed., M. A. B. Playing much stronger competition, and still lacking in height, plus the loss of three starters from the previous year, the Preps again came up with a hard fighting and hustling ball team. The team ran up many high scoring games, while most of the games lost were by a narrow margin. On the free throw line they showed their skill by running up a higher average than any X team in this area, which. achievement K , J proved to be a winning point in many of ,f---' their games. Among the highlights of the year f b was their winning of the Eivins Bowl l N f Tournament, and the capture of fourth f place in their own Christmas Tourna- ' f Q ment, considered to be one of the tough- I l est Invitational Tournaments in the X 'f' state. The team showed such good Wffnp I. sportsmanship that it was not only noted ' X in our local paper but in the St. Louis ' paper also. J f, Z. The Preps will lose only two players from this year's team due to graduation: Errol Porter and Harry Rust. We are proud of our team and hope they continue to show their fighting spirit and good sportsmanship in the future. 26 THE FIR T TEAM Tom Draper Height 6 ft. 3 1X2 inches, Weight 159 lbs. Each year the faculty selects as new members the Juniors and Seniors who meet the requirements. The requirements of the National Honor Society are very high. They are Leadership, Service, Character, and Scholarship, and a B average. All these requirements must be met to become a member. Mr. W. A. Ownbey is the sponsor of this organization. His guidance helps to make this organization one of the highest honors in the school.
