Class Prophecy Have you ever been to a fortune-teller? It is an exciting and spine-tingling thrill to ask the bedecked, dark gypsy with a secretive air what your future will be. You sit there, holding your breath, while she unravels your past, present, and future. I recently visited Madame Sabrai, a famed fortune-teller, to see what lies ahead for each of my classmates. Madame Sabrai told me that five years from now, Martha Allen will be teaching kindergarten in the growing city of Coleridge. Gail Craven is a successful businessman and shas recently employed ten beautiful,young ladies as “private” secretaries. Vertle Ritter is head nurse of our own Memorial Hospital in Coleridge. Wiley Brady, the most famous news-reporter on radio, is traveling around the world getting “scoops” and drawing cartoons for the “Daily News.” Wilma Craven, after graduating from Guilford College, is teaching English and French at High Point High. Glenn Cox, now owns a coast to coast bus line and in his spare time tours the country boosting the sale of his recently published joke book. Milton Hayes has perhaps become the most successful member of our class. After graduating from N. C. State College and Georgia Tech, he has become the president of the great General Motors Corporation. Carrie Moffitt owns a chain of beauty shops famous for their hair styling. David Kidd who recently purchased a 1960 Chevrolet convertible is the famous mechanic for Herb Thomas, winner of pratically all car races. Shelby Garner has returned to our Alma Mater to become full-time secretary for Mr. Presnell. Ann Jenelle Poole is “the” private secretary to the President of the United States. Mary Ann Wright, still single, is happily teach- ing Home Economics at Coleridge High. Anne Rains, still single also, has graduated from Lees-McRae College and is Medical Secretary and Librarian at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. David Craven is playing with the New York Yankees and has set a new world record for hitting home runs. This revelation was even more than I'd have asked for, had I been predicting. I felt well paid, and the Senior Class resolves within itself to live up to the prophecy about us. Anne Rains Prophetess
