CUSS HISTORY In the year 1940 we ventured on a 12 year expedition in search of adventure. With us were 24 ex- plorers including: Charles Bush, Carl Conderman, Paul Cosgriff, Alexander Eicharn, James Folts, Earnest Hall, Roger House. Donald Matthews. Harley Orr, Richard Ostrander, Richard Sager, Bruce Tripp, Francis Wagner, Robert Wagner, Alma Cooley, Sara Edmunds, Mary Meese, Margarie Mallaber, Donna Orr, Rita Schiavi. Katherine Schneider, Mary Schultheiss, Donna Davis, and Shirley Lathrop. In spite of drop outs along the way, we entered high school with several new additions which we ac- quired anywhere from the fourth grade on. We came from Junior High with a treasury of $21.53. With this magnificent sum as a background we plunged fervently ahead with our aim for raising enough funds for our last fling at the unknown-. The Senior Trip. One important incident during our Junior High days was the choosing of our guide. Mr. Spas. We have never regretted this choice. During our first year those who we chose to officiate of us were Rita Schiav', Pres. , Alice Schlick, Vice Pres. , Mary Schultheiss, Sec. -Treas. During our Frosh year we had a bake sale, box social and went with the Sophomores and had a dance. All this kept us tremendously busy. When we entered our Sophomore life because far more active, socially, scholastically, and financially. Our riding was going a little smoother. Our first big money raising project was checking coats at the Dairy- man's League Dinner. This netted us about $81. 00. During this seemingly eventful year we chose Bill Feely as our guide and Rita Schiavi as his assistant, Mary Schultheiss was in charge of all secretarial duties and Gerard Drum was left in charge of monetary affairs. Our Junior year had arrived. After careful consideration we chose for our officers Mary Schultheiss, Pres. , Rita Schiavi, Vice Pres. , Sheila Kimball, Sec. , Katherine Schneider, Treas. The first thing we did was to try our hand at dramatics. This turned out well as we captured second prize at the Play Festival with our production of No Trespassing. During the next month we sponsored a dance with the Hornellsville Hillbillies. Another financial project which was wholly successful was our checking coats at the Potato Convention. We had another dance in the spring which is well worth mentioning, the St. Pat's dance with the Genesee Valley Ramblers. Along with the arrival of Spring we commenced with two big projects of the year. Our play, Aunt Cathys Cat and our Junior Prom. The theme of the latter was Over the Rainbow and Kate Schneider was our queen. We are proud to say we are the first class to make a profit on their prom. The Senior ball followed soon and we were Co Sponsors of that gala affair. Well we finally have started on the last lap of our journey, reached our goal and have the future ahead of us. This year we have chosen as the captain of our last cruise Gerard Drum. We started out the year with the annual magazine drive which greatly aided our treasury. We then sponsored our Senior play, On the Beam . This, too, proved to be very successful. The yearbook has been our biggest project. Our high school days have been as complete as anyone would want and we will always remember those days at C. C. S. as the happiest of our life. Valedictorian Gerard Drum 90. 22 Salutatorian Mary Meese 87. 70
