The first event of importance for this school year was our float entry in the Deerfield Fair Parade. We chose as our theme The Weatherly, which was not only timely, but also appropriate as the weather was wet and rainy that day. Our sincere thanks to Mr. Donald MacCallum for the use of his mast, sail, and trailer, and to Mrs. Ralph Graham for her assistance on the project. Our next effort was our play. Pudd'nhead Wilson, which we presented on November 16. This was a comedy of the 1850’s, filled with witty remarks and lively action. Thanks to the expert direction of Mrs. Graham, the outstanding acting of the cast, the appropriate costuming provided by Mrs. Arthur Price, Mrs. Jeanette Low, and Mrs. Arthur Dodge, our play was highly successful. The advertising for this event was done by Mr. Clair Beauman, who provided us with unique posters and signs. As the year draws to its mid-way mark, the class is looking forward to another Coronation Ball, the Junior-Senior Prom, and of course, graduation week with all its activities culminating in our commence- ment exercises. At the Coronation Ball our candidate, Diane Dalrymple, was crowned Princess. The freshman and sophomore classes competed against each other this year, rather than all four classes competing as in the past. Our numbers were increased by the entrance of John Tasker, but at the close of the year we had lost him along with Vivian Monroe, Maureen Clark, and Otis Bruce. Junior Year As juniors there were seventeen members in our class. New classmates were Alfred Harmon, Michael Beauman. Clifton Wall, and Audrey Tuttle. After getting back into the routine of school life, we elected as President -- Bruce Rollins; Vice-President --June Jordan; Secretary -- Nancy Linscott; Treasurer --Charles Carpenter; Student Council -- Virginia Norberg, Michael Beauman. Our candidate for queen for the Coronation Ball was Nancy Linscott. Once again our candidate was of Miss America proportions, but our class failed to sell enough chances to win the contest. Our talent in the theater this year consisted of Charles Carpenter and Arthur Neilsen. June Jordan, Nancy Linscott, and Virginia Norberg took part in a program sponsored by the Harvey Lake Woman's Club in the Spring. On May 25th we held our Junior Prom, the theme of which was Suddenly It's Spring. From among our beautiful contestants, Nancy Linscott was chosen queen. Acting as her aides were Audrey Tuttle, June Jordan, Virginia Norberg, and Joyce Hoadley. As in past years, our class members were active in athletic events. Among those participating were June Jordan, Nancy Linscott, and Joyce Hoadley in volleyball; Joyce Hoadley, Nancy Linscott, and June Jordan in cheerleading; Arthur Neilsen, Maynard Farr, Robert Burritt, and Charles Carpenter in soccer; Michael Beauman, Robert Burritt, Charles Carpenter, Norman Brown, and John Newman in baseball; and Robert Burritt, Charles Carpenter, Arthur Neilsen, Bruce Rollins, and Clifton Wall in basketball. Senior Year At the beginning of our Senior and final year, we started with nineteen members. Our newest.class- mate was Zolin Sauls. Our class officers for this year included: President -- Nancy Linscott; Vice- President -- Arthur Neilsen; Secretary -- Audrey Tuttle; Treasurer -- Diane DeMeritt; Student Council -- Joyce Hoadley, Charles Carpenter. 15
