The class of 1962 entered Coe-Brown Academy in September 1958 with 29 members. Our first big event was the election of class officers under the guidance of Mrs. Helen Dodge. Our officers were: President: Spencer Richdale; Vice President: Heidi Gates; Secretary: Nancy Neilsen; Treasurer: Roland Twombly; Student Council: Coral Magoon and Clive Demmons. Our most dreaded event during our Freshman year was the Freshman Initiation. During the day we all wore various costumes including everything from grain bags to flannel nighties. That night we performed funny stunts which were thought up by the Superior Sophomores. Our third big event as Freshmen was the annual Coronation Ball. Nancy Neilsen was our candidate for queen. We are sorry to say that we came in second, but lost by only a few votes difference. During the year we lost; Dana Ames, Ralph Ames, Ola Davis, Phyllis Fletcher, Russell Hill, Mary Price, Jacky Savard, William Stevens, Harriet Wallace, and Walter Worster. When we came back to school in 1959 as Silly Sophomores we had 24 left in our class. Our class officers for this year were: President: Spencer Richdale; Vice President: Clive Demmons; Secretary: Nancy Neilsen; Treasurer: Marcia Richardson; Student Council: Coral Magoon and Phil Twombly. We had lost Linda White, Ronald Piwowarczyk, Heraldine MacDurfey, Otis Bruce and Debby Cheney. We held two socials, the Freshman Initation and a small carnival which included a short play entitled, Day At School. This year for the annual Coronation Ball Marcia Richardson was our candidate for queen. We came in third, but put up a good fight. At the beginning of our Junior year we had 18 members. However, we gained Philip Curran and lost Shirley Le Clair. Our class officers for the year were: President: Coral Magoon; Vice President: Meredith Dunn; Secretary: Nancy Neilsen; Treasurer: Marcia Richardson; Student Council: Heidi Gates and Roland Twombly. During this year we had a food sale, a record hop and the Junior Prom. Thanks to Mr. Phalen our record hop was the most successful one in years. For the Coronation Ball Queen this year Heidi Gates was our candidate, and the Queen. 14

The Junior Prom was next. Our theme was An Evening in Blue. Meredith Dunn was our beautiful queen. Coral Magoon and Marcia Richardson were her aides. This year ended very successfully. At the beginning of our Senior and final year, we started with 17 members. During the year we lost John Ricker, leaving us with our present 16 members: 8 boys and 8 girls. Our class officers were: President Nancy Neilsen; Vice President: Clive Demmons; Secretary: Coral Magoon; Treasurer: Burton Curley; Student Council: Meredith Dunn and Spencer Richdale. The float for the Deerfield Fair was entitled Miss Coe-Brown. Meredith Dunn, our queen of the Prom, reigned as Miss Coe-Brown. Audrey Neal, Marcia Richardson, Nancy Neilsen and Coral Magoon were her aides. It was very beautiful and we are proud to say we won first prize. The Senior Play this year was a great success. We did the Importance of Being Earnest.” The Christmas Dance this year, we are sorry to say, wasn't very much of a success. During this year we had dancing classes instructed by Mrs. Kennard Goldsmith. We enjoyed them very much and our dances proved to be more successful. Audrey Neal was our candidate for queen for the annual Coronation Ball and walked away with the honor as Queen. There was a very large turn-out and our new gym looked great. And so our days at Coe-Brown have come to an end; now, we can only reminisce. Nancy Neilsen Coral Magoon 15
