PRINCIPAL' S MESS AGE This edition of the Cody High School BRONC is one more evidence of the growth of our school toward the goal of the comprehensive school - the effective devel- opment of each student's individual abilities. Its pages record glimpses of the multitude of activities which comprise our curriculum. The past decade has seen a multiplicity of changes. There has been a doubling of the faculty and student body. The shop, academic classroom, auditorium,gym- nasium, athletic field, parking lot, bus garage, cafete- ria and central kitchen area have all been acquired within the past ten years. The testing and guidance pro- gram has been improved and the music program strength- ened by the addition of a string program. These are a few of the changes wrought during the fabulous fifties. The challenge of the sixties will lie in meeting the demands of the space age. A true respect and admira- tion for intellectual accomplishment will raise our sights above the rewards of material prosperity. lt is myhope that the undergraduates of Cody High School will meet this challenge in full measure. Cordially yours, Dr. Harold M. Stauffer High School Principal SUPERINTENDENTS MESSAGE The greatest need of the individual today, in our eternal search for the ultimate, is educational balance. This, in my humble and certainly imper- fect judgement, is a result of multiple exposure to the myriad possibilities and potentialities ofa com- plex civilization. Past history has shown, in some instances at least, that academic learning, if not balanced with some active participation in fine arts, physical ex- ercise or hobbies, often leads to a faith in knowl- edge alone rather than the use of such knowledge. I believe that our tremendous assimilition of knowledge today must be balanced by Christianity first, emotional adjustment second, and last, but not least, respect for what out fellow human beings do that is worth doing. We are striving to make the educational pro- gram of the Cody Public Schools help people prog- ress in this direction with. what seems to me, marked success. Cordially yours, W. L. Whiting Superintendent
