QCUNW Bringing their season to a close, the Coconino Girls Volleyball team faced a disappointing loss at the Divisional Tournament in Winslow. The Pink Panthers lost to Holbrook which put them out of the running for a state title. Girl's Volleyball coach, lVlr. Wertz, felt that Coconino was well represented by our volleyball team. They looked better than they ever have, they worked hard to- gether, and they had better control of the ball They really were using their heads in a game IVlr VVertz said the girls really thought volleyball, and therefore they functioned better as a team The varsity team came up with a good season record of 11 wins and 6 loses while the junior varsity team had a record of 2 wins and 13 loses lVIr Wertz and the volleyball team felt that IVliss Nink lVlrs Manley and the cheerleaders have been a major factor in the teams success '-vi, sp gr ll

The girls finished the regular season with a perfect record of 5 84 0, while the boys finished 3 84 2. The boys placed 3rd 84 5th in the di- visional and state meets re- spectively, while the girls took runner up C2ndD both times. IVlost valuable runners this year were Lisa Feyereisen and Carl Peterson. Lisa placed lst in state, while Carl was 3rd for the boys. . 69 Qi Oil i f
