The students of Coconino High School began to close their summer in the middle of August. The first to be drawn into school for registra- tion were the Senior's on August 10 . Following close behind were the Juniors and the Sophomores in the following next two days . We registered a record amount of 332 seniors, 331 juniors and 381 sophomores . In our opening assembly we were welcomed by IVIr. Petersen, IVlr. Wolfe and lVIr. Boehle. lVlr. Haines informed the Student Body about Mark Lescoe Day which would be held October 1 . The Student Body was then introduced to the Student Body Officers, Class Presidents, Cheerleaders and the Pom-pon girls. The finale of the first week was the Get Acquainted Dance . lt was held August 27 and the band was Impulse. lt was quite hot in the cafeteria, but most of the people that came, danced . All three events of the first week were successful--which was a great way to start off the new school year! . 4 1 5' ....,..,.. ,...W..e,,. V' sl D if y if N-

SeniorsPlace Class of 79' in Bondage l l It was alright, it was fun, Dawn Cummings said after being ask about sophomore initiation this year. The sopho- more greeting this year from the seniors was different than last year's. The theme was Slaves, and each senior was . able to purchase 2 sophomores for 256. The senior owners were able to command them around, and dress them up for Thursday and Friday September 9th and 10th. Outside games were pllanned for the lunch-hour on both days, rainy- weather canceled these activities. IVlr. Petersen's comment was, l thought it wasn't as well organized as it could have been, and, Those sophomores who did participate did it in the right spirit, and had alot of fun. Senior Tammyl Garver agreed with IVlr. Petersen and added, Those sophomores who did participate should be congratu- lated. l think they did great! I
