His duty assignments include service onboard USS Pictor (AF-54). USS COCHRANE (DDG-21), USS LEONARD F. MASON (DD-852); on the staff, Field Command, Defense Atomic Sup- port Agency, and duty in the Bureau of Naval Personnel. LCDR TUCKER is married to the former Christy CRAHAN of Reseda, California. They have two sons, Jason and Shaun.

COMMANDING OFFICER Biography of Commander Joseph E. BOLAND, Jr., USN Commander Boland is a native of Yonkers, New York and graduated from Manhattan College in Riverdale. New York. He was commissioned at Officer Can- didate School in April 1959. His duty assignments include First Lieutenant and later Operations Officer. USS NOTABLE (MSO- 460); Operations Department Instructor at Officer Candidate School; Destroyer School Department Head Course; Engineer Officer, USS BUCHANAN (DDG-14); Commanding Officer, USS SAMOSET (ATA- 190); Bureau of Naval Personnel; Comman- ding Officer, USS PIVOT (MSO-463). and Executive Officer, USS JOSEPH STRAUSS (DDG-16), He assumed command of USS COCHRANE (DDG-21)on 12 June 1973. Commander BOLAND is married to the former Rebecca Lea THOMAS of Lynchburg, Virginia. The BOLANDS have one son, Joseph Patrick.

I I EXECUTIVE OFFICER Lieutenant Commander Henry W. STRICKLAND is a graduate of the Naval Academy and served his initial sea tour as Fire Control Officer and Missile Officer aboard USS SELLERS (DDG-10). Following completion of the department head course at Naval Destroyer School. Newport, R.I., LCDR STRICKLAND reported aboard USS TOWERS (DDG-9) as operations officer. Tours with the Naval Advisory Group, Viet- nam and Naval Postgraduate School Monterey. California preceded his assignment as Executive Officer aboard COCHRANE. Lieutenant Commander STRICKLAND and his wife, Harriet, have two children, Hope and John.
