It was a long, hard climb from the first year in grade school to the first year in high school, but we finally got here. We al- most turned around and went back though, when the seniors de- cided to dress the freshman girls in gunny sacks anf field boots, and the boys in shortie nightgowns and high heels for our initia- tion. The officers elected for the freshman class were: Dick Weiss, Presidentg Jean Evans, Vice-Presidentg Marian Takken, Secre- taryg and Nancy Dean, Treasurer. The first thing the freshman class did to raise money was to have a food sale and we had several of them throughout the year, which brought in quite a bit of money for us. We, also, spon- sored a show at the theatre in Cambria. Our dance, the Superstitious Stomp, was in April, yes, on Friday the thirteenth! Of course we had appropriate decorations for the date. We were glad our dance was a howling success, because it was our first. We really were a mess when we got back from the freshman's annual trek up the hill to paint the C and clean up around it. It looked like we had more paint on us than on the C . We had loads of fun though. In a few months we will be taking another step toward our education and we will be sophomores, watching the freshman initiation and remembering that just last year we were bowing to the seniors. 18
