Mr. Hubert W. Brown Supervising Principal 1. Mr, Durwood Swanson Elementary Coordinator r. Mr. Frank Henry Vice Principal CLASS OF 1971 The old order changeth, giving place to new . Alfred, Lord Tennyson, was the author of that quotation published in Idylls of the Kingv in 1859. There have always been demands for change. The num- ber of demands today seem greater than ever . The methods used by the advocates of change range from peaceful dia- logues to anarchistic bombings, a repetition of history. Progress comes through change. Our task is to judge the merits and benefits of the many proposals and demands that confront us individually-also, collectively, as a nation. Changes for the common good should be made operational within the framework of our government and institutions. We should resist attempts to force change by violence. Moral and social values are being challenged by a per- missivev attitude. Many segments of society condone these relaxed attitudes. Does what is morally right or wrong really change? Our decisions must be based on our education and ex- perience. Our education should teach us to adapt to change, and to accept what is beneficial for all. It is the sincere wish of all the people who have worked with you that you will use the best aspects of your training to assist in bringing successful solutions to the pressing problems of our turbulent World. M . 17
