olfwier Ready for Take-off! Presenfed by the Senior Class of 1958 Volume X N s my its ' ' if . I, We, the Senior Class of '58, are proud to dedicate our l958 Courier to Mr. James Bounds. Mr. Bounds has been with us for two years and we have appreciated all the hard work he has put forth in our behalf. Mr. Bounds is a native of Fremont, Ohio. He attended Cedarville College and later transferred to Bowling Green University where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He spends his leisure time in sports. He is a very active member of volleyball and basketball teams. He also plays softball in the summer. Mr. Bounds has worked hard in promoting the Student Council in our School. He is also responsible for the honor study halls and the Youth Government Day which has been a great success. The Seniors feel that this is a small token of our appre- ciation for his hard work and understanding. Jim 79 5 Unwzlm, As the i958 Courier Staff was organized and met for the first time, we were very confident that we could put out a good yearbook with a mini- mum of trouble. But as the days progressed and as we put this book to press, we found more and more what an inexperienced group we really were. We have tried to do the best possible and we wish to take this oppor- tunity to thank Mr. Diehl for undertaking this great responsibility and for putting up with all the headaches involved. Also in the spotlight is our fine editor, Dixie Brininger. Many times she has done the iobs of other Staff members. Also working very faithfully is Pam Brugger as assistant editor. w A ,swf Cheryl Kuns, Sharon Dick, Pamela Brugger, Judy Fought, Margie Kochendoefer, MOYHYY1 MOSSYI David Miller, Kenny Welch, Linda Hoffman. Other members of the Staff are: Connie Baker, class editor.: Karen Wott, club editor, Jim Pearce and Dave Miller, sports editors, Hugh Zimmerman, business manager, Linda Behnke, typist, Pat Sutter, layout director, Connie Dick, publicity director.: Carol Schwan, art director, and Mike Taylor and Kenny Welch, photographers. There are also many other people working under each of the above mentioned. We have all put much time and effort on this yearbook and we hope sincerely, that you, the students and faculty of Clyde High School, and people of the community will enioy it. 61 - 1? -. At meetings the members study, buy, sell, and exchange stamps of the United States and foreign countries. The stamps are mounted in albums and much information is thus gained about other countries as well as about events and famous people in our own country. The school year opened with the band giving its usual fine performances at the football games. However, the flu hit the band hard and for the first time the band missed two away games. The highlights of the marching season came with an invitation to give a halftime show at the Bowling Green-Baldwin Wallace College football game. The band gave an outstanding individual performance and then our drummers led the combined eight bands through a series of thrilling formations. Our band members spent much time as salesmen to help raise money for new uniforms, which we hope will be worn first at the opening of the coming football season. For this was the year we who have iust completed twelve years of diligent study and continual perseverance started our eventful lives. The first grade brought many new changes into our innocent lives. Lois Bouyack's pigtails really made a hit. A very patient Miss Cleveland struggled with Judy Glumm and Dixie Brininger who found it extremely difficult to sit still. The second grade found us well on our way upward. Third graders having already conquered the rules of penmanship, began to look for other fields. With the fourth grade came many responsibilities. We could help in the office and care for library books. Connie Baker's broken collar bone and Connie Dick's broken arm were sources of great conversation. Fifth graders became dramatists. With the able assistance of the fourth grade and Miss Mohor, who directed us, we presented the operetta Tom Sawyer. Judy Krauss's love songs to Billy Rose highlighted this master production. Minstrel shows and home room dramas highlighted our sixth grade escapades. Connie Dick, our foremost author, wrote many plays which we presented for various homerooms. Dixie Brininger made a hit this year, as she slid into second base, the results: one badly broken leg. Now as seventh graders we embarked on Jr. High School. Miss Stacy helped us this year with many tours. Miss Teagarden found us a very frustrating English class this year! John Peter's horse blessed him with a broken leg and ankle. One rung before high school we as Eighth graders began to excel in sports, music, and Grammar , for Mrs. Mong. Our first year of high school came and we managed to plant the town with seeds. Remember the Freshman party in the old Gym? How the boys could kiss! Money was our Sophomore goal. During this year Mr. Wolfe's cats ioined our own cool cats. Linda Behnke's rubber gloves were much in demand. Our Junior year was filled to the brim with activities. Our class play Time Out For Ginger was a great success. Paiama parties became the craze. Remember Karen Wott's long lane. Lost in a maze of flowers weary Juniors presented a most beautiful Breath of Spring. At last we stepped on the threshold of our final year. Our Senior Class play The Great Big Doorstep was a hilarious hit. Our student Mayor, Jerry Ashton, ruled over Student Government Day with a firm hand. The prom Tropicana , presented in our behalf was enioyed by all. We will never forget our first trip down the aisle, May 18, for Baccalaureate. Not to be outdone, our Senior trip to New York and Niagara Falls was full of fun and merriment. Commencement exercises, May 28, officially ended our twelve years of training. Our Senior year would not have been as successful without the help of our sponsors: Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Smith, and Mr. Bounds. 2 mamma Jo M, Sept Sept Sept Sept Sept Sept Oct. Oct. Oct. Oct. Oct. Nov.
