THE GLASS HISTURY We Seniors, who were enlisted the year of 1941 for 12 years of training in Clyde High School, have completed our basic training. Before we go, we would like to leave with you a History of our unit that tells of the happy times we had together. ln our first year of training we put on a play called The Three Bears . The stars of this wonderful play were Iim Mitchell as Papa Bear, Iudy Hughes as Mama Bear, Kit Shanahan as Baby Bear and Rena Prouty as Goldilocks. The rest of the unit formed a chorus in the background. Then there was that beau- tiful band called The Toy Band , led by that wonderful leader, Miss Shirley Tressler. Our second year of training was a quiet year. This came about because of the big paddle Miss Bertha manipulated, if we were not quiet she would come along and whack us. During the third year a new recruit entered our unit, Iames Ayers. Although lim was supposed to be a year behind us, he was so smart they put him in with us. ln the fourth year Kit Shanahan and Iohn Iackson argued about whether there was or was not a Santa Claus. Can't you just see our whole unit in tears when we found out there wasn't any Santa Claus! That year Mrs. Broud made us stay after school because we didn't learn our history. Tough Boy , LaMar Wott, cried all the time we were there. During the fifth year of training two more recruits entered our unit, Gaylene Jones and Bob Trudeau. Bob was quite a corker, he was the envy of every girl. 1 wonder how many girls Bob had that year? Love was blooming in the sixth year. lt seems that Mr. Biegel asked Glenn Ray what he was doing. Glenn said he was studying his spelling so Mr. Biegel asked him to spell Honey , Before spelling the word Glenn pronounced it and Shirley Tressler, whom it seems Glenn was squiring, said, YES? . During the seventh year Glenn Bay went in the Library and when Miss Reardon Know Mrs. Sarvisl came in, he crawled under a table. Miss Reardon knocked on the table and said 'Glenn Ray, you come out of there'. Glenn knocked on the table and said, 'Come in and get me'. The I-Teens had a formal dance during our Freshman year, for most of us it was our first formal dance. Oh, it was heavenly tripping over our long formals!
