Brenda wills her love of fried chicken and ice cream to Karren Horton. Charlotte is one who is going to take all she has with her. Charles wills his ability to get along with Mrs. Perkins to Wendell Treece. Clell wills his many friends to anyone lucky enough to get them. Clyde wills his bashful ways to H. R. Perkins. CLASS HISTORY The Seniors of 1958 started their life long history in the Clinton State Vocational Training School in late August of 1954. Our class, composed of seventy-nine noisy freshmen, storming down through the halls and filling the classrooms to overflowing in our efforts to become a full fledged student and to be part of this school. However, we rapidly became a part of the school and began making acceptable con- tributions to its activities. Prevailing many hardships and battles, our class has diminished from the original seventy-nine to forty-two. Glancing back to our Freshmen year we feel that it didn't register too much with us as we were just starting our new phase of life. We went to Petit Jean on our class trip. Willard Crow was elected as president. Coach Gene Wilburn was our sponsor. During our Sophomore year, things began to be more meaningful. This year we started our school plans with Bobby Joe Appleby as president. Our class sponsors were Mrs. Horton and Mr. W. H. Morton. The main events for the year were the class trip to Lake Nixon, and our class play, Headin' for the Hills . In August, 1956, the Junior class we enrolled forty-two easy-going, fun-loving members to our class roll. This year we elected Clell Lewis as president. Miss Hutchison and Mr. W. H. Morton were co-sponsors. This year three of the Junior Girls were chosen in the Beauty Circle. ” Jeraldean Smith was one of the Torch Maids. Barbara Bradley a Fair Maid. Jan Patton one of the Homecoming Maids. Several members of the class became assistants to the Torch and Hillbilly. Our play was Prom Night”. Four of the girls and four of the boys were on the Senior Basketball teams. One of the most eventful events was ordering our class rings. With this came a new trend for the school. We were the first seniors to order the ring to be the standard ring for the school. We were hosts to the Seniors at the annual Junior and Senior Banquet. This event took place on May 3, 1957, with Fairyland Romance as our theme. Then came the greatest year in our lives in August, 1957. We enter in a history making affair for we are to be the first seniors to graduate from the newly organized Clinton High School. James Pate was elected as president. Our co-sponsors were Miss Hutchison and Mr. W. H. Morton. They were willing to go along with us to make this our most enjoyable year in high school. The happiest days of our life was receiving our class rings in October. This let us know that we were full-fledged Seniors. Selecting our invitations, Diplomas, Caps and Gowns, were one of our busy moments. Doing this we knew that Commencement was just around the corner. Our play Backwoods Romeo” was given in April. We lost two of our girls to matrimonal life, three boys to Uncle Sam. For our class trip we went to Gulfport, Miss, and New Orleans. Anna Ramsey was the Valedictorian and Charlotte Hink was selected Salutator- ian. James Cecil Pate was chosen for the Lions Club Award. Now with our four years of joy and sorrow, failure and success behind us, we pass to the future graduates of Clinton High School, the feeling of kindness to you as you continue your climb in your education. The climax of our school year came on May 12, as we received our diplomas on Commencement night. Page 19
