THESPIAN INITIATION On the evening of January 28th, Clinton High School Troupe Number 402 of the National Thespian Dramatic Honor S Society initiated eight new members. The ceremony was held in Room A-20 of the Junior High Building. President Beverly Wilson began the program by presenting the initiates to the group. The Thespians-to-be were then asked to rise and give a record of their activities. A short history of the society was then given explaining purpose, aims, and qualifications. The initiates were asked to repeat the oath after the president. Then, the new Thespians were welcomed to the troupe. The Thespians initiated were Bob Bratt, Anne Burrall, Bertha Evans, Janice Ferguson, Eleanor Linberg, Shirley Uverman, Sharon Stratton and Beverly Wilson. Later in the school year another initiation was held. initiates were Shirley Carlson, Chuck Eaton, Joe Massa, and Don Robertson. Compliments of: BONACORSI BROTHERS

C H S ELECTIONS The students of C H S elect their class officers and Student Council members by an election held at the beginning of each new school year The primaries are held in May gust before school is dismissed for the summer To become a class officer a student must apply in the principal s office He will then be given a paper on which are his name class, date and office for which he is running He must then persuade fifteen members of his own class to support him by signing his petition All students turning in correctly filled out petitions are then candidates for the primaries At both the primaries and the elections regular governmental procedure is maintained The voting is supervised by the government students To vote a student would follow these steps He is summoned from the study hall during one of his free periods He is escorted to the library by one of the government students Upon entering the library the poll clerk strikes his name from the register Judge directs him to votmg booth After casting his vote he hands it to the ludge who places it in the box corresponding with the voter s class He returns pencil to tally clerk He leaves polls counting votes five people must be present two ludges two tally clerks and an inspector A mutilated ballot will not be counted A mutilated ballot contams one of the following errors Check rrarks Mark outside of square lnltlals In wrong place Folded In wrong manner Unnecessary markings on ballot Ballot places IH wrong box Double vote ln counting the votes for the 1952 53 election it was found that the seniors fwith fouri had the least mutilated ballots Juniors and the eighth grade tied for second with five Following them were the sophomores with nine mutilated ballots the seventh grade with fourteen and finally, the freshmen with twenty one mutilated ballots Compliments of: BLAKE'S NEIGHBORHOOD STORE CHEEK AND SON GARAGE L . . . . . 2.
