We’re No. 1 Peek-A-Boo Let’s Talk About It Tartar Sauce Activities Spirit Week Sp urs Enthusiasm Spirit Week gave many people of Clinton High School a chance to express themselves. Each day of the week the students and faculty dressed according to the designated dress of the day, with two winners being chosen each day. The different dress types were as follows:Monday-Clash Day; Tuesday-Grub Day; Wednesday-Dress-up Day; Thursday-50’s Day; Friday-Spirit Day. Other activities such as window painting on the square, bonfire, snake dance, and powder puff football were held. Spirit Week, 1975, highlighted by the Homecoming Game and Dance, was a huge success, thanks to the help of the Student Council, the cheerleaders, and all the students and faculty who participated in this event. 7 Homecoming Parade Second place-Sophomore class Christmas comes early for the Maroons G.A.A. The following organizations contributed to making the parade a success: Freshman, Sophomore, Senior classes, G.A.A., Pepperettes, Band, and Cheerleaders. The success of the parade can also be attributed to Student Council and its organization, and the Clinton fans who cheered for the fighting Maroons. 9 omecoming yueen PF.NNY KOSHINSKI Men’s Liberation Hits Clinton High Standing, left to right: Doug Smith, Jeff McIntosh, King Rex Kent, Kurt Fatheree. Sitting, left to right: Kevin Dyer, Ralph Shallenberger, Dennis Leggett. C.C.H.S. began a new tradition this year by electing a Homecoming King in addition to the traditional Queen. This event was enthusiastically accepted by the entire student body, particularly the senior guys. This addition showed that the students here are ready to participate in new ideas. The student body elected Rex Kent King for 1975-1976 on the night of October 25. Since the Homecoming Game was washed out, the traditional crowning at the game took place the following evening at the dance. 12 Rain, Rain Go Away! Pontiac Nips Clinton The Clinton Maroons gave a good fight against the Indians of Pontiac, but due to a few difficulties the Clinton Maroon homecoming game was lost with a score of 14-6. The Maroon touchdown was scored by a good pass from quarterback Jeff Hickman to Paul Wade who then made a fine run. The points scored by Pontiac were on a blocked punt and an interception. Due to bad weather there was a small amount of wet fans present. Even though the Cheerleaders were soaked and cold they did an outstanding job. 13 It’s About to Begin. . . “It’s About To Begin” was the theme for the 1975 Homecoming Dance held in the high school commons October 25. The dance began promptly at eight p.m. and lasted until slightly after eleven p.m. Due to the weather at the Homecoming game, the Queen and King were crowned at the dance at 9:30. The crowd was excited to hear that the 1975 Queen and King were Penny Koshinski and Rex Kent. After the crowning, the 1975 Queen and King and their dates were featured in the traditional royalty dance, with the music being provided by “Oscar.” w 15 Cast Fall Play “The Man ho Came to Dinner’ The 1975 fall play, presented in the auditorium on November 21 22, was “The Man Who Came To Dinner,” directed by Mrs. D. When asked how he felt about the season, he stated “I was very pleased with our season this year. We had an awful lot of surprises. Some of our younger wrestlers did extremely well in tournament competition. I was, however, disappointed in our performance in the district and sectional. I feel our wrestlers can compete in state competition, but this would require sacrifices that most athletes are not willing to make.” Mr. Bartkus also stated that the challenges for wrestlers are tremendous; He hopes we have athletes coming back next year with the determination and pride that will take Clinton to the State Tourney. i Bottom row, left to right: Steve Groves, Kevin Watkins, Jim Polston, Kevin Price, Jeff Heckenbuger, top row: Chris Junkert, Steve Hettenger, Kevin Wahl co-captain, Curt Harbach co-captain, Coach Arnold, Greg Goodman. 1976 Golf Team Senior Stars This year’s golf team under the direction of Coach Arnold had a season record of 3 wins and 12 loses. Though this year’s records was not as outstanding as last year’s, the team was still very good. Clinton’s 104 record was one of the best in the area. The team placed 3rd in the Divisional Meet and won it’s own carnival. Highlights of the season were record setting performances by the mile and two mile relay teams. The two mile relay was a new event last year, but Clinton had one of the best area times by running it in 8:25.0. After just missing the oldest Clinton track record, the mile relay, by a few tenths of a second, the boys got it all together and smashed the record of 3:41.0 by running it in 3:34.4. The two teams consisted of only five members: Matt Cowles, Dan Brady, Mike Bundy (all three on both relays), Ed Walls (two mile relay), and John Lappin (one mile relay). After that, she planned to attend college in Brazil. Cecilia wants to be a secretary. Her hobbies include swimming, volley ball, reading, and listening to music. She particularly enjoys classical and romantic music. Cecilia also plays the piano, tap dances, and takes Ballet lessons. When asked what she liked best about the United States, Cecilia replied “American people are very nice. I liked my family and my friends best.” Senior Boys Compete In Beauty Contest The 1975-’76 Queen-Kent Woolery On Tuesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. in the C.C.H.S. Haley May 1, 1976 In Memory of Boh By Jann Austin After the years, the heartfelt pain. After the numb and after the rain, “Life goes on” is what they all say, But it’s never the same. Not after the pain. We’ll always remember the good times and the bad, We’ll always remember the times that we’ve had, If only we could help for a second or two— If only we could feel that feeling for you. A hole has been left in our hearts way down deep, A hole we must fill with our memories to keep. We know that we’ll see you tomorrow in that land where dreams last forever we’ll again hold your hand. Bob Haley was very active in school sports and activities. In sports he participated in basketball, cross country, and was the Varsity Basketball Captain. Also, he was active in Margol, Student Council, French Club, Lettermen Club, and served as Student Council President his senior year. During his years at C.C.H.S. Bob was awarded National Honor Society, P.E. Student of the year, Illinois State Scholar, and Who’s Who Among American High School Students. 189 mtor ool locjici to press, inc.
