At the age of 10, Curtis and his brother Lonnie sang and danced with the Joe Kayser Band at theatres in Rock Island, Dixon and Chicago. The boys made $5 per day with all expenses paid. In dedicating this yearbook to Mr. Covington, we express our gratitude and admiration to a man with a winning smile and a cheerful personality who has been at C.C.H.S. for the past 17 years. Many misty-eyed couples attended the annual Sweetheart Dance sponsored by the F.H.A. club. The gym was decorated in red, pink, and white. Titles from books, movies, and history accented the walls. The class sweethearts were elected as follows: Leigh Ann Evans, freshman; Julie Dixon, sophomore; Dee Ann Cooper, junior; Sara Smith, senior. The F.H.A. sweetheart was Rita Turner. To the Seniors Another year goes passing by Another prom is here To some this brings a joyous smile To others, brings a tear. For four years you have tread a path From dawn to setting sun But now the path gets steeper And the climb is just begun. We're very glad to know you've gone And to the class of '72 We dedicate our prom. -- the Juniors ione Kane provided the music for this year's prom Old Fashioned Love Song . The gym was decorated in blue, red, and white. About twenty couples attended this year. The freshman girls served the ice cream and punch at the soda fountain. The after prom party was held at the Wapella Auction House. When I see your face or touch your hand, I get a feeling inside my soul That tells me that I love you so very much. You complete my being, and make me whole. The music tells me I'll want you near. The days will seem to be so long Til I have you by my side to hear The sweet old-fashioned love song. -Carol Mead 22 •v 23 K Honor’s Day Assembly Band David Groves .... F.N.C .
