C. H. S. we were scared but managed to survive the first seige by electing Charles Dalton, President; Dave Phelps, Vice-President; Mary Jane Lindsey, Secretary; and Douglass Beck, Treasurer; all of which were advised by Miss Rainey. Our class party headed the events of the freshman year as we elected Lila McDonald and Frank Black to reign as king and queen. In September of 1951, we again strolled (but this time more confidently) through the doors of C. C. H. S. as the silliest sophomores ever. Miss Marshall advised the class and Duane Harris, Dixie Rees, Shirley Smith, and Helen Chapman were elected to head the class in order of importance, we held a class picnic at Weldon Springs and a good time was had by all. At last our junior year rolled around bringing to the jolly juniors, class rings; the play-- Brother Goose; and the long-awaited Jr. -Sr. Prom. The theme for the Prom was An Evening in Paris and Johnny Moreland provided fine dance music. This eventful evening was topped off by the first After the Prom entertainment provided for the upperclassmen through the courtesy of several generous local organizations. After our class had supplied the best prom ever given in C. C. H. S. , we were taxied to the theatre to see a premiere of Scared Stiff, then to the country club to gorge ourselves on delicious food and enjoy nightclub entertainment, after which we were ushered to a delicious breakfast. Our class was headed by Doug Beck, President; Mary Jane Lindsey, Vice-President; Mary Lowerey, Secretary; Jim Hassinger, Treasurer. After the votes had been tabulated we found that the students of C. C. H. S. had chosen Frank Black to head the '53-'54 Student Cabinet with Helen Chapman and Whitey Thomas to assist him. The long-awaited year rolled around and we returned as sophisticated seniors with Ken Baker, Wayne Whitehead, Bev Allan, Janyce Buchanan ruling our most honorable class. For the first time in five years our grid-sters were triumphant at homecoming and our Queen, Helen Chapman, reigned supremely over the festivities following the game. By the end of the first semester everyone was so worn out they questioned the fact that they survived the second half of the term. But all managed and spring brought the senior play, Trip day, Hobo day (which fit most of us), class night, the prom, Baccalaureate, and finally the long-awaited graduation which brought many unexpected tears. , 1 MARY ANN GRADY Maggie Clintonia Staff 4; G.G.C. 1,2,3; Mixed Chorus 4;F.
